I'm going to take some flack for doing this update. My fibreglass hood was in great shape...well except for the fact that it's held together with rivets and sheet metal...it's no longer lightweight for sure...
I was so impressed with how well cat900's hood survived his tree crash in Sicamous that I bought the hood and the vent kit for myself from Motorsports Addiction and started the install last night.
Here are the photos from last night...the very last photo is of summitric tearing into my carbs after he discovered a fuel leak (thanks for the help there buddy). :) :) :) :)

Re: 2001-800 Hood Upgrade

Good thing he has a cigar in his mouth while working on carbs lol, I wouldn't have cut that much out of the center section of the hood with that vent kit, I have the same kit and there's not enough rigidity in the kit to support any sort of pressure, I drilled two inch holes where the vent mesh is and it still provides plenty of cooling, trust me I've fallen enough times and landed with a hand on the hood and nearly pushed through the vents, just my two cents. Looks good though.

Only summitric would work on a carb with a cigar (c111 fuel as well).
So where were you last night when I needed that advise...lol...I never thought of the 2 inch holes.
We did try leaving a brace down the middle but it didn't do much for support.
I guess we will find out how easy it is to damage in the near future.
I'm hoping your wrong...lol...

That looks real good bunnyman, did a great job and left lots of room for arctic cat stickers lol!I have a large vent I'm going to install and I see what shoppingcart111 means as i've landed on the hood to and that is a great idea to cut 2 inch holes under the vent.Thx!

I basically marked where the actual vent mesh was when the panel was lined up and cut as many 2" holes as possible spaced evenly, and riveted the bars of the panel to the uncut hood, super strong, there's picture of my install on here somewhere. Oh and Sledbunnyracing, for future reference, consult me before you do any future mod j/k

Cheers MB
