I bought rail extentions and they didnt fit. so waiting for another set to come in. in the mean time.... my question is do I need to extend the tunnel to go from a 136 to a 144. with the 136 the track sat a ways from the snow flap. has any one dont this swap?

I went to a 151, and had one made up.

ok sorry guess I should be more clear lol. it has a tunnel extention on it for the 136. it holds a 5 gallon jerry can. the extention I have with the 144 is about 2 inches longer. is it worth installing it for that two inches? snow flap is close. might make a angled piece of alum to go under the snow flap (where it bolts on to) to kick the snow flap out two inches at the bottom.

I would just install the piece of angle, and call her done. JMO

I have done it. 2000 700 RMK 136, put 144 on. You do not need a tunnel extension. I put on the track and made sure there was clearance at the back, and rode it that way for a few years before selling the sled. There is definitely enough clearance. However, you should put some kind of angled piece of alumium or steel in behind the flap so it sticks out more. Otherwise, it'll get sucked into the track all the time. I got a manufactured angled piece from Cycle Works (I think, it was a long time ago), but it would be nothing to make one. I used rail extensions bought from Cycle Works.
