I am currently running a 2007 m8 162 i am just wondering if going to a 174 will be that much harder to handle [boondocking in the trees]

Do it! we have a guy in our group with one on a M8 and he loves it. They do push more on the hard stuff but we fixed that with a pair of simmons skis. If you do it dont put the 2.5" in go right to the 3" and cut it down, way more track and we have 2 of them on our 1000 s and they are impressive. Going to the 3" is like adding another bunch of mods compared to the 2.5" Just my 2 cents, I have had a 174 on my sleds for 4 years now and am waiting for the 186"!!!

Just wondering how much you had to cut the 3" down for proper clearance?

We ran the tracks through a table saw and cut just over a quarter inch off each side so we have like a 15.4" wide track, that .4 makes a huge difference! Ha Ha.

They clear the cooler with a quarter inch of space at the tightest spot. If you go back in the archives a ways I put a 174" project in this section I am not sure how many pages it is back maybe I will dig it up and you can check it out.

So if you end up riding hardpack the 174 isnt much harder handling than a 162? So i take it all of the 174 3 inch tracks come in a 16 inch wide version?
