What a knob... should have hit the brake midair to bring the nose down. At least he'll be able to get intimate with the sled this summer as he replaces the tunnel. Good quality garage time! lol!

Ok, no warranty from brp, but martins has stepped up with some good pricing on parts and labour. I will replacing my track with the 2016 skidoo 163” T3 Track. Will use avid drivers as well. Now need to find out who has done this and if they had any issues. thx

That is one of the reasons I dumped my G4 and bought a Alpha......at least it is backed by a real company!!!

Im looking forward to your opinion on the alpha. Good or bad your a straight shooter.
Brother and I keep sleds stock other than a can and of coarse a cooker.
Ride together almost every trip.
There will be some real world average old giezer reports.
Performnce, fuel/oil, handling and reliability.
He is more nervous than me after seeing what my 17 was like for the last two years.
My 17 will still be on some rides.....sold it to cousin...man I am mean!!
I let them both know I will be nice and periodically wait for them!!!!

My point is I have dealt with doo and they are a proven useless entity. Repeatidly and consistently if you follow threads.
Would rather deal with Cat and parent company hands down.
Doo policy just got old.

From a '17 to an alpha, you like the cutting edge! Me, I went with the '19 hoping for reliability... took MMS 5 years to get me back into a new one!
But it's tough to get a customer back after they're gone... my father in law still won't buy a GM product due to a bad deal in the early 90s lol

Well Mr. Nobrakes they are a really good sled when you have a good one.
Hope you get a non issue one.
Alpha just a new skid, the rest has been around and really a non issue sled in 18.
There are quite a few Cats in the family so get to see first hand how they perform. Great shocks, lockout skid, Alpha rail (we'll see ), 7 tooth driver, drop and roll for attack angle, 10" rear wheels, Team clutches, solid bulkhead, decent weight at 444#, snow free tunnel and skid for lighter "in service weight" (look at how much snow a doo packs) and same hp as the 850 as per factory rating. Actually Cat 165 and Doo only 163. Easy on gas and oil. And got the Alpha cheaper as a kicker with more in store discounts. Was an easy switch.
Just got tired of not trusting the Doo and no backing unless you cut deal with dealer for partial coverage. Tracks and bearings going on G4 which I thought would be an issue with how tight you have to run the track with 6 tooth drivers.
The wobble wobble fins and clutch cover hole band aid fixes were too much. Still to many blowing belts on 18s and no change really for 19. My belt blowing was betterish after updates and the sled's power was undeniable but enough was enough.
Fuel and oil was crazy. I would burn almost double oil and 25-35% more fuel than brothers xm for 50cc more than my 14XM had.
I just could not cough up another 17g after the fun I had on a short service life sled. I had actually snowchecked a 19 doo but went back few days later and cancelled, just couldn't make the same mistake twice-was a great dealer, tough to leave

Don't see me going back to doo any time soon. Even if the Cat doesn't work out a Poo would come before a Doo. The devorce is completed lol.

It's too bad you had so many troubles. I have been fortunate without any issues so far. My riding partner had a bad winter with so many ruined rides with his new cat breaking down Dealer never could figure it out but stepped up and gave him a good deal on an Alpha for next season so it is going to be fun comparing the two.
What were the troubles with the cat?

kept stuttering on the higher end. Would do it intermittently and sometimes would start but not rev up to engagement speed or not at all and when it would start we would head down. They changed out electrical components, the fuel pump because it was putting out to much pressure but it still couldn't be trusted and finally he wouldn't take it out of the trailer. Seemed to be electrical gremlins in my opinion.
He had a poo before this that gave him grief but he refuses to ride a doo. Lol
