I went over the bars on the weekend and bent my steering post. I'm looking to replace / upgrade to a chromoly post. I talked to C3 and skinz and they both offer a post forward chromoly unit but I'm loking to keep the stock location and neither company has tried it without the post forward mod. Does anyone make a stock replacement chromoly steering post or has anyone tried an aftermarket post in the stock location? Thanks in advance.

I've also seen people weld supports under the T of the steering post to keep it from bending. I bent mine too, haven't replaced it yet. But am going to go with the relocation kit.

Thanks for the replies guys. I would also like to hear from anyone who has ridden a "post forward" xm. What should I expect to gain/lose from doing this mod and get a chromoly post forward kit?

From what i've read, they're awesome. If you take a look at your bars, the risers are supposed to be "in line" with the post. It makes it almost feel awkward to have the bars that far back. Whenever i adjust my bars i like them straight up so i can get my weight over the front of the machine, but in doing so you lose some ergonomics and handling. However, with the post forward, you can still keep it inline, its just set further forward so you can have your weight over the bulk of the machine to control it that much more.

I'm going to get one for sure, just trying to spend responsibly for now.

When I had the post forward in my XP I didnt realize how amazing it was until I took it out. I ended up putting it right back in. Have heard nothing but good about it on the XM as well.

I did it to my 14 xm also. As im 6-2 tall trying to keep riser an post straight was tough. Put the forward post in an solved that problem an also did not have to get a taller riser. Also as my belly sticks out a little to, so it helps me stay up closer.

The post forward on the XM is great if you like riding more technical terrain. If you are just a point and shoot guy it isn't going to help much.

With the post more forward it allows you to get even further forward on the sled without the riser pushing you away from the center point. There were a handful done up like this where I was just riding and it helps when off camber.
