09 M1000 clutching options and ideas

Guys,
Trying to get your thoughts on whether I should update my stock clutching or go aftermarket. I have a fully stock 09 M1000 x 153, and due to the lack of mountains where I live, will unfortunately only ever running below 3000'. I guess I need to revise my AC factory setup clutches for this elevation, but I wondering if I should go aftermarket, and if so, what recommendations can you all offer. I plan on only doing some mild modifications in the future, can, pipe, y-pipe, etc, if the tuners ever come up with working options for elimanating the bogging issues. I don't want to be having to frig with the unit all the time as my riding is not that extreme. Maybe I should just go with the Cat 0' to 3000' setup and leave the rest alone. Thoughts???

Hey bud I have a set dalton adjustables in my primary clutch my secondary I run a straigh 38 dalton helix with a cutler set up with the red spring works amazing.

Thxs CatPride. Wondering what Dalton setup your using, weight range, and are they the "quick adjust cam arms". Do you use the adjustables because you run a wide range of elevations, or just so you have that flexibility if needed. Additionally, what is involved in actually adjusting them. I have looked on the Dalton site but it doesn't describe the process. Also why would you run a straight cut instead of a 40/38 or progressive helix. I not really sure of the advantages of these different types. Sorry for asking any questions which may be stupid but I'm trying to gain a basic understanding of clutching without getting too confused.

Hey maelstrom I see your from Torbay, thats my hometown. Good to have you here. Any snow down there? Post some pics for all to see.:camera:
Your at sea level, go with the factory set up for 0-3000 and you should be good to go for around home. If you plan on heading west to the mountain's get the Dalton's, not alot more money and less of a hassel to change.

Hey Crazy8, How are things in Edmonton? We are having a pretty poor winter snow wise although we're forecasted to get 15-25 cm tomorrow. Leaving next Thursday for the west coast, up around Gros Morne. What is involved which adjusting the daltons? Their site unfortunately shows nothing so any advise is appreciated. Try to keep it simple as I'm pretty much a newbie on this subject. I'll try to post a few pics from a couple of trips. 041.JPG

I've never used the Dalton's but i'm sure they come with instructions. I think the stock ones from Cat are about $90 or so for the set. Changing the cam arms is pretty simple, usually takes about two beers or so. Remove belt, remove cover from primary clutch (you can leave the clutch on the sled), heat the set screw with small torch to weaken the loc-tite, remove cam arm. Installation is the opposite. Don't forget the loc-tite on on the set screw on reassembly.
