My brothers looking at getting a 09 sierra, he told me it has a 4.8 and 150 thous km. Me being the ford guy I am, I have no clue about chevs pros and cons

I did a quick google search and it looks like there 250k+ trucks as long as there maintained. Any of you guys own these things or have experience working on them.

Are they okay to work on when compared to say fords 5.0l? Or are they slightly more crammed in the engine bay like the 5.4

my 07 5.3L made it to 418, km. lots of hard miles hauling. I know not a 4.8 L but prob somewhat similar. I also have a 2001 4.8L I bought new... its on its second everything lol but I hauld a cargo trailer for the first 5 years and shes at 350,000 km now. so I guess its what you want the truck to do? drive a 2010 duramax now... rather have to much truck then not enough. IMHO

Just my opinion but 4.8l if he ever plans pulling anything significant he will sorry. Know a few guys that bought them and they are kicking them selves in the ace.

we have approx 8 trucks at work with that engine,a couple of those trucks are over 400000 kmh, the rest are around 280000. these trucks have hauled loads but no trailers, zero engine issues and only minor repairs done, good engine but lacking in power if going to use for trailer towing
