Sled market predictions

Any guesses on what is gonna happen in the new and used sled markets in the coming months? Things are friggin nuts right now! Friggin gave away my G4 in the spring. Could probably sell it for 4k more today! (Sold it for $6700).

You would think an economic collapse would have an effect on discretionary spending. Unreal. Guessing this has to catch up at some point.

Think dealers will flood the market and lower prices after the new year?

Well there is going to be a crash or many upset people when they realize they don’t use said toy or can’t afford it and had over payed for it by several thousand

Dealers won’t be lowering prices. They have basically nothing left to sell. Many dealers in sask are sold out or very few machines left this early in the year.
Interesting times ahead. Repo man is gonna be busy lol

The dealer I bought from usually has 10+ sleds left at the end of the season. Right now he has one left and 2 more unsold sleds coming.

I know....I know! I thought this year would be different though because I knew it was going to be way more than two weeks to flatten the curve.

Not much inventory now but nothing stopping them from pumping out more in season models?

Weather and if restrictions will play a big part in a month for sled prices .

This time last year there was 2400 sleds for sale in Alberta on Kijiji. Right now 1700. BC was like 850. It was 400 last time I checked.

That won't happen deaner. 2 reasons: First one is they order a lot of their build products almost a year in advance. Number 2 is there is a shortage of materials out there because of Covid. BRP for example wasn't shipping batteries with Seadoo's so dealers were buying aftermarket batteries wherever they could to get those boats out the door. Polaris can't get Walker Evans shocks for their 850's or at best they are severely delayed. It just won't happen.

Probably wont be able to give them away next year. Same goes for pickups, quads, and cars. Then again I am a doom and gloom kind of guy with the way I see markets going but who really knows for sure. Maybe the politicians will invent another war for us that always seems to help with the economy.

Well, my stocks are doing the best they ever have been. Maybe they got reinvested into Vaccine companys.

I wish I had of dropped a pile of money in there back when everything dropped at the start of covid.

Seen a ad on Kijiji for a 2016 HCR. He wants $9500.00.
Yeah it only has 83kms on it. But it's still a 2016.

In 2016 I paid less than that for my 2015 HCR.

I thought sales this year were going to be way low. Makes me worry about the future of the country if everyone is continuing to spend like its never going to end. Free money heck free anything is dangerous.

Canada's debt to disposable income ratio hit an all time high of 178% in late 2017. Currently it's at 177%.

Lots of reasons. Low interest rates, job and economic uncertainty, lockdowns limiting spending.

I like a lot of people I know have money sitting in accounts that should probably be put down on debt, but I have no reason to believe that income wise tomorrow will be better than today, likely the opposite, so I'll hang on to the money I have. Interest rates are also low enough that with little effort a person can make better returns on the stock market then is lost on debt costs. Travel restrictions put a big dent in it too, like many we didn't do any big trips this summer, and likely won't be doing any winter trips either, so there's another chunk of unspent cash.

I also wonder what created that 177% number, did it go up because of increased debt, or because of decreased income?

I have a feeling that there is going to be a lot of toys for sale next year for cheap when Trudeau comes knocking on the door of every CERB recipient. Its insane to me how many guys are financing everything and anything at this point. New truck, new sled, new sled deck, new gear etc etc. I'd love to have a new 850 turbo in the garage but I refuse to finance it. Thats just me though, I'll keep saving my nickels and ride my T3 for another season.

As for the 177% debt to income ratio, I think theres a lot of things that have contributed to this. Namely easy credit on everything and for anyone with two bucks to their name. I find it disturbing that places like Canadian Tire offer financing for damn near anything they sell. Saving money and living within your means is becoming a forgotten thought process. I'll admit, I've been guilty of it but I'm cutting out the stuff I don't need (truck payment mainly), paying down debt and trying to stash some money away. To each their own but the less a bank owns me the better IMO. I'm just grateful and happy to be working full time through this whole dumpster fire known as 2020
