2012 etec primary

I used to clean my primary all the time on my 09 xp. Now that i have this new etec does anyone know how to remove and install? I did buy a puller to do this just need to know the steps. thanks

so once the clutch is off is there anything i should be marking or lining up?

I would mark it before you take it off. Two marks on both parts of the clutch and one mark on the side of the head.

But I'm not a clutch guru so see what the experts chime in with.

Not important how it goes back onto the crank. That moves when you put it in reverse etc from the force.


But there will be a mark on both sheaves and one on the spring cover that all need to line up. They are marked with an arrow and a notch already.

The 2012's actually do have a mark on the sheave the lines up with the crank.

They came with a yellow dot or an additional circle that does not line up with the standard marks. This mark should go on the crank stub in the same spot it came off.

I tried locating a photo of the marks. I can look later tonight for it.

The 9mm circle is the heaviest point of the clutch and should line up with the stamped mark on the crank stub.

All the sub assemblys are aligned with a small 4mm circle on the 2012's.
