Rode Quartz today. Trail up was in good shape. On the hills and meadows they were pretty hard packed and wind blown. Didn't see any signs of recent avalanche activity.
Re: December Conditions & Riding
Rode into Renshaw yesterday afternoon. Thin snow for first few kms of the trail. Watch out for tree across the trail about 10 kms up from parking lot. Very cold ride up the valley. Was dissapointed that warm up cabin had no heat. Out of propane. Be prepared...
I bought a new 2010 Yamaha Venture TF in Dec and I'm very disappointed with the sled. Engine braking when letting off the throttle is too harsh and dealer told me I have to get used to it.If you are standing while riding to clear an obstacle and let off the throttle it will throw you right off...
I am just wondering about all the 01,02,03 engines that need to be rebuilt because of crankcase bearings.I have seen that a lot of them have been crapping out around 2,000 Km's.My concern is that I purchased an 01 800 Summit X last winter. It had just over 2,000 K's on it when I purchased it on...
I have been sledding in the mountains for 4 years now and I look back at my first trip and think about how little I knew at the time.It was the helpfull advice of other riders along the way and what I have learned from this forum, that drove home the importance to get educated and prepared.I am...
I used a grinder and trimmed some off the tip of the throttle.I have Large hands. It helps, but still isn't comfortable.I don't mind the tension on the throttle, just the long reach.Rough trails are a killer on my thumb.I was thinking of putting a left hand throttle on just to give my right a...
Did you get a price for replacing the Dess and the Stator, reason I'm asking is I have a 98 670 Summit X and I am having a similar problem.I had the sled running yesterday and it keeps cutting out at about 3500 rpm.It idles fine and starts good.I let it run for about 10-15 minutes but it still...
I have thought about getting the laser eye surgery done. It sure would be nice to get rid of the glasses. I have tried contacts but don't like them. I would go with the open face helmet and goggles if I didn't wear glasses. How long ago did you have your laser surgery?
I wear glasses and that makes it even harder to find the right helmet.I have an MX style Ski Doo helmet and goggles made for eyeglasses. This set up works good if I am cruising along a trail, but if I stop or get into deep snow and heavy work, i steam up too much. So, I also bought a full face...
I was checking out Deka Lake on Google and wondering if anyone has been riding there and what it's like this winter. Not looking for hillclimbing. Is the road plowed into Deka Lake?
Sorry for the Loss of your Friend. It has been a tough year for Sledders and their friends/family.I don't know the area.Usually ride Golden,Revy and Fernie areas. My prayers go out to all those effected by these tragedies.
One way or the other I want to help out the Families.I'd rather do it as a group from the Snowmobile Community though. There is definitely going to be a BIG need here. One Lady will have to bury Her Husband and a Son.She is going to have a tough time, for sure.It will be hard for all of them.They...
You're Absolutely Right. We can't rely on technology to save us.We need to sled safe, and make good decisions. The big problem is... conditions are never the same twice. That and we all sometimes end up in bad spots unintentionaly.Education, planning and experience are Very Important.
