Yes Ken it has been. My sister inlaw text me today and said they had clean 1975 artic cat panther in shed. Come get lol. Might see if i can round up 4-5 of the bigger name 440’s from 75 and restore.
Well guys heres a update. I ended up going through 4 engines to get 2 good cranks. Also ended up with 4 parts sleds to get resto going.I have chassis painted hoods out for painting and seat being recovered. Decal kit ordered and I ordered 3-4 sets of pistons cause they are very tough to get...
Thanks guys. Really need some crank repair but not sure if they can fix those old cranks. I’ll do some digging. Those old kiroritz 440/22 engines made 46hp. A little ahead of there time.
Has anyone worked on these sleds. I have a 75 with the electronic ignition. The motor was rough so i found a 440 in good shape but its the 440/21 not 440/22 like this. Will all ignition stuff cross over?
Maybe Skegpro should have been in rocky mtn house this summer and seen all the bc plates there when travel was restricted? Couldn’t hardly get a room to work in area. The hotel manager was disappointed at all the out of province travel that was not work related.
Guys im working on a ol ss just wondering what compression should be on this unit? Its the old points unit and can be tough to start. Cleaned points and checked everything there seems fine. Just a little tough to start. Thanks Steve.
Triple xxx is writing on wall. Small bore triple (light) with etec and turbo!! Comes with single pipe and turbo for easy 200+ hp. Easy peasy and wont weigh in anymore than 850.
On a xm with 3” you need 7 tooth drivers. 3” pitch. Not sure if tracks went back to 2.86. But most the old ones 3” pitch. Its very tight with 7 tooth also. This was before factory 3” of course. The 3” sleds have longer chaincase.
I finally talked to Dave. He said the 927 kit makes 200+ hp and gobs of tq. Depending on how wild you wanna make build. That would be very good power im thinking.
I have a xm with a 48/36 secondary helix. I find my rpm is fairly close but in some deep powder i have be on 3-4 on clickers. I like to stay down in lower numbers do you think a 50/33 would slow it down a smidge. Or should i go to like a 47-33?
I had a 2000 700 summit. I ported the cylinders did a head n shim kit from jaws and twin hooters. I dynoed it and it made 135 hp. That sled would eat most 800’ ho’s that were supposedly 150+ So yes depends how much hp gets to ground.
