    New project SW

Read the above post^^^^^^ The project never started as a Yamaha MTX sled, but as a Sidewinder engine and bulkhead. Started with a trail Sidewinder from Ontario purchased new in the crate. I tore it apart and started from there. The idea has been to turn it into a sleeper. To answer your...

    New project SW

That is correct Ken, but the new sleds have little left to modify when it come to weight without exotic materials. OE companies will stay competitive with each other but a factor in their development is sales. It can be easy to price out of the market no matter how good it is, at the end of the...

    New project SW

The sled is not a Yammy anymore, I have been building since the 90's so not like alot of other shops doing RE&RE of components, I build a lot of my own. Some of the tricks I have done on this involves the cooling system, drive axle, exhaust system, seat, it looks OE but it's not. The list goes on.

    New project SW

Well here is the kicker, that may had been true a few years ago, but at the retarded price of a new sled today not so much. I have a little less then 30,000 invested in this sled including purchase. BTW, my Nytro cost around 35K and my Polaris mod hill climber from 1998 pushed 45K with its...

    New project SW

From all the info. I have seen, a 23 turbo gen5 with equivalent track length 175" RTR is 545lbs and a Polaris Boost RTR around 535lbs. Be interesting to see what these numbers are in real world usage after a couple of hours in the deep. This Winder carries NO ice, can't say that about those ice...

    Got Boost?

My very first 4stroke, purchased in 2010 and to the shop it went for a tear down. 260hp Boondocker with Garret center mount, 174x2.5 track, Iceage rails. Numerous Cr custom mods, from suspension to boards. Too date it was one of the most fun sled I have ever owned and I have owned over 40 sleds...

    1994 PHAZER 2 LE PROJECT

Check with Mongoose in Port Coquitlam. Pretty much the best in BC.

    Quietest exhaust can

Yes, that's the one. I think you will be very happy with it.

    Quietest exhaust can

I highly recommend the Bikeman (BMP) muffler. Its has a very nice sound for a 2stroke, not quite as quiet as stock (almost) but WAY quieter, nicer sounding then most cans you'll find. BMP claims it will not effect power output. It is not as small as most can's but it is more of a muffler and...

    GPS

And just like taking an AVY course is a smart idea, so is taking a basic map and compass reading course. The vast majority do not know how too, even though many believe they do, until put to the test and it may save your life one day. Lastly, don't be that guy with out a GPS tracker, Inreach...

    GPS

I use the Montana series GPS, had the 600series for 4 years and now replaced it with the 700 series for this coming season. As Grinder said, you cannot beat the real deal for tools. Let me tell you a story that happened to me last season about GPS and there is also a side lesson. I was riding...

    Crankshaft Position Sensor.....Epoxy ?

2 part epoxy is best, it is what OE used, brand doesn't really matter, its all the same. What you want is LONG set time. The quicker it sets the more brittle it is, so long set is most durable and resistant.

    Nytro project

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by looping it back on its self, sounds to me like you want to eliminated it from the system??? Being you have the radiator, unless you plan on deleting it. Just remove that rear heat exchanger and reroute the coolant at the bulkhead using the bulkhead and side...

    Nytro project

One of the worst location for a heat exchanger is at the rear of the tunnel. It will turn the rear of the sled into a giant glacier LOL. I don't know how much coin your willing to put into your project, but if I was you all the cooling would be at the bulk head and under the seat. Did you delete...

    Belt Pirates

I'm not one to ever watch sled video's much, I find them repetitive and same old same old, thus boring as hell. Heck how long can one sit there listen to a buzzing sled noise and the front of a sled twirling through terrain and tree's, creating carnage that most would frown upon constantly for...

    New project SW

Funny how many people actually say that, I've even encountered riders out there coming over to me saying the same thing, "they miss their Winder or regret selling". The nice thing, when I take my 2smoke, I can always go back.
