My brother in law had one like that and he kept up to us boys riding 650,750, and a 800. they are a great quad and some times a little easier to get thru some trails that i have been on.

That does sound like your rad is plugged up.Same thing happened to friend last year.Now he makes sure to really clean his rad from the front and back.

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me.Have you check all you vent lines,fuel lines and also check the carb mounts to the engine.Could be a small crack.Well thats my tow cents.
