I have the 1996 - 400 which is on the same frame. Run 25" bearclaws and love them. Good for all conditions as well as plowing. Totaly unstopable in the scag
It was my Dealer who told me to remove mine. I kept the cat in the garage as the dealer suggested that way if there is a problem you have it. Keep in mind that if you remove both the cat and muffler you will get slightly better milage but it takes a bit for the turbo to spool up from a stop.

I ran the Yokohama Geolanders on my 2000 Silverado 3/4 ton and loved them 170000km and little road noise. Well worth the money in my opinion. Goodyear Silent Armour are garbage unless you don't carry any weight
He'll treat you right while your spending money but will not stand behind his work. Buddy had engine rebuilt and less than 40 km later needed rebuilt again with same problem....Doug would not warrant his work and lied to the guy about the problem.
