I'm thinking about a Yamaha 1200 in an Eagle hull. The sea doo would make the most sense, but would put the project over budget I think.
Awesome! Keep posting build shots! This is great!
Congrats!
You have entered a world that will have you saying both 'why didn't I do this sooner' and 'why did I do this!'
The learning curve is somewhat steep. Hardest part for me was teaching myself to pin it more when hitting bottom. Not let off. It's opposite of what your brain thinks...
Re: Watch out for this company" Velocity Devices Inc."
To the OP. I hear ya. It flat out SUCKS when any trip of any kind gets ruined. It's happened to me many times.
I'll make this clear. I've never dealt with VDI, and don't know them or the products.
BUT
From what I can see here...
In the past I have drained all the oil, added diesel fuel, turned it over, flushed it out and repeated. I then do the same with cheap oil two or three times. Then fire it up get it to temp and drain again with oil in it. Usually works like a charm.
I'm not using a blown engine. Just the heads intake and roller rockers from this one. The block, crank timing components and rods are headed for the steel bin.
Looking to build a reliable 383 that will live in the boat.
This ZZ4 has lots of life left in it, but I'd rather swap it before...
Looking to be about 10.3:1 with this setup. Undecided on bottom end yet.
-GMPP complete short block
-GMPP block with scat rotating assembly
-or this, which seems like a great value.
Thinking this for a cam

Hahaha!
When I build a new boat I'll likely do that.
But for now I'm running and rebuilding my old girl. Gotta have something to look forward to for a mid life crisis, and a totally un needed over the top boat is what I'm going to do.
Hi all.
Building a new jet boat engine. Im currently running a ZZ4 at about 4000 rpm with an AA impeller. It's happy on regular fuel and is on year 3 in the boat with about 300 hours on it. I want to build a backup.
I bought an engine from a buddy that he got blown up. It's a 383...
Interested to see how this pans out. Got a few buddies with them. One is an Eagle hull and the other was bought from the states. The eagle is running the supercharged sea doo while the other is runing an 800 Yamaha. Both work well but I haven't been around for any fun.
Who is building your...
