Here is some advice, if pulling monster hills is not your thing, than dont waste your money on a turbo. They dont run the greatest at the bottom end for slow moving technical riding. Doing some other mods like a big bore kit or a head would be more suited for a mainly boondocker kind of...
I run straight av gas, put on as many miles up there last year as I did down here. 8-9lbs of boost, no issues. Other than its a little harder to hold on down here! Just watch EGT's as I'm sure different turbo set ups run differently!
I have a 09 M1000, never ran right from the day I brought it home. Dealer kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it, down here it runs fine for the most part, at elevation, its hit and miss. Major dead spot at 6500RPM. I'm not the only one with this problem, but than again, some guys...
P.S.
Does any one even know the circumstances of that avy, speaking of educating, I personally like to know those sort of details before I form any opinion!
Drinking and driving is stupid, they have laws against it and yet every day, people all over the world do it.
Running your croch rocket at 200km/h is stupid, they have laws against it, yet it happens all the time.
Using power tools without safety glasses ( even once ) is stupid and causes many...

Yep, mine does the exact same damn thing, and it is driving me mad. Everyone has all these great ideas, that I keep trying, and fixes nothing. I know for a fact that the mbrp can is the worst thing you can run on the M1000. I swapped cans with a guy on the hill one day, night and day...
I see your point, and know exactly what your talking about, as I been there too. Watching an entire face come down in front of me, knowing that there was nothing I could do, it was too late for, " woulda, coulda, shoulda". We lost a great guy that day.
Having said that, ignoring it, never...
Yes, I have seen the Float style work (or rather not work) in the field, and no, this person did not get to a chance to tell there story.
From my research and personal experience, the ABS is probably the best in a gliding type avy, where there is good run out and decent sized snow boulders...
