Yep, all a perfect storm of things come together. Cost of living, fuel prices, maintenance costs, hotel costs and on and on.
It cost me nearly 2K in fuel for a week trip to Sicamous, between the Cummins and the sleds. Doesn’t help needing Av Gas at $2.40/1000ml.
Then on top of all that when...
That may have been some of the problem. The exhaust exit was almost up inside the outlet hole. But it didn’t seem to matter too much, even if you could sidehill with the exhaust up and clear it still wasn’t 100%
I use scotch brite to scuff
Brake clean to initial clean
Then electrical contact cleaner for final clean, until they pass the
“White glove test”.
Brake clean is probably good enough, but it does leave a residue, so I go the extra step.
Buddy had one bogging very bad.
It was 100% the aftermarket can it had on. Switch back to stock and its 100% again. It was really bad, basically unusable the way it was. Couldn’t barely get it up a small hill.
I got ahold of the Doctor down in Utah. He pretty much said she’s toast. Once you separate the center section from the air side, it releases the spring tension off the inner race allowing the balls to come out. Then if you make any attempt to put it back together you seal its fate of death. It...
Here is what I thought was possibly an external Torx
But E8 doesn’t fit E10 way too big
E9 doesn’t seem to exist.
Managed to get E8 on there, but with heat and a decent bit of torque, nothing. It doesn’t seem that this “nut” comes off.
Welllll,
I was wrong, this thing seems it may have been willed into existence by a Wizard. I have thus far been defeated in trying to take this thing apart. As far as I have been able to tell the inner races are part of the shaft. The limited diagram I was able to get is of little help, but is...
Thanks for the info. Im certain I can take it apart and hopefully then reassemble it. I was most trying to find out any special information, or that “wish I would have known that before” tid bits. Or the what ever happens dont do this, kinda thing.
I will just go slow and steady
Pay close...
Got an aerocharger turbo and long story short, we took off the V band clamp trying to get at the Vanes to see if there coked up or sticky.
But now the two halves won’t go back together. Suspect the bearings came apart and now she has to come all the way apart.
Does anyone have some insight...
Yep. In my head when I first heard about this quick change drive shaft, my first thought was well that seems like a bad idea.
Fyi, for those who may not be familiar with “thousands of an inch” 0.125” is 1/8th. So getting over .200” is Ridiculous amount of slop! Gears have to run true and...
I would be curious to check the strength of your spark when its cold and wont start. Could it be weak? Enough to light off the gas you dump in the cylinder and then once running the spark would be stronger due to higher Rpm. Also when warm engines tend to start better, so explains why it starts...
Scary stuff! I pretty much always ride with a partner. I ride conservatively when I know nobody has eyes on me. It happens so fast its unreal. RIP Mr.Block.
Sometimes it can be straight up mistaken identity too. My sled had a sleep over in Allen once because it went down a drainage that I thought was somewhere else. I thought it would come out into a area I knew. I was wrong. But by the time I realized it wasn’t the right spot we were way too far...
I did see a video my Kids were watching, and buddy had his rear axle fall out, and stab the rails thru the track windows. Ruined the track and his day. It was a brand new Summit with about 3 Miles on it.
Maybe wanna keep an eye out for that.
