You can get into a 04 or 05 REV for that kind of money if you look around. There is a reason all the new sleds are roughly based on that chassis. It was revolutionary!
I can think of nothing less fun than the idea of riding your 5 - 30K sled over water where if you f' up you lose your toy and fall into frigid water while trying to swim with full winter clothes and boots on. I like adventure and do my fair share of crazy chit on sleds, skis, bikes, etc. but...
Owned about 10 sleds in my life now. Never registered one yet. Enforce away, I'll risk the fine. I hate giving the government any more of my money for them to waste.
IF you can find one the old Yamaha Snow Scoots are awesome for the 6 year old. You can't beat a Kitty Cat for the younger kids as it is pretty hard to get yourself in trouble on one of those.
Had a lot of good times on these 2 sleds.
You need good visual trail maps. I took a look on your website and didn't see any links to good maps of the area. I make maps for a living so I like to see good maps of areas that people can actually use to navigate with, say in bad weather.
I made this one (link below) for the Cranbrook...
Yep I rode the Freeride (pictured white and green). Pretty fun and I hardly noticed the wider ski stance. It does feel a little more solid when you are on it. Didn't feel the difference in the shocks but I wasn't on it on the bumpy trail only in the pow.
Yeah my buddy has a 2013 Pro 163 that I have ridden a bit. For my riding style I found the XM way better. It seems to side hills way better. Almost makes it a little to easy and takes out the skill.
Went out on the demo ride in Corbin this weekend. I was absolutely blown away where the new XM's would take me, far and away the best sled I have ever ridden. I just had a blast riding it. I put a lot of lines on a lot of hills that I normally wouldn't. Thanks Skidoo for that and letting me burn...
Nice pics, I am waiting for some "holier than thou poster" on here to slag you for having a frosty beverage out on the hill........Whistler area is good this year!
The In Reach also uses the Iridium satellite network which is infinitely better than the Global Star network that Spots use. I own lots of Sat Phones from the different companies that my crews take out in the bush and the Global Star phones are not reliable. They are kind of dangerous as they...
I have been wondering for a while when this was gong to happen. Some of the Moto X and Sled X guys have had some horrific crashes over the years and it was just a matter of time before someone was killed.
Having said that I will miss watching the insanity, those guys went huge!
Good fun sled, but there are a few quirks. Clutching and too tight crank tolerances are a classic problem for this sled. The worst year for Skidoo in the past 10 I would say.
Oh man, I am so sorry for your loss......
AS for the sled I am thinking bad gasket somewhere if you don;t have compression in any of the cylinders. I would tear down and re-build with a new gasket set and maybe get a manual to make sure everything is going back together as per spec. As for the...
