I had a similar problem last year after installing a 10" riser. Turned out the electric harness under the gauge cluster had come partially off. Unscrew the six T25 torx to remove the gauge cluster and make sure that massive connector is completely in.

My 2013 XM sp last season did 1700 kms, the belt pulled a cord at 900 km and I snapped the handlebars at 1600km but no trouble other than that.

They're more press nubs than pins, but the parts manual calls them pins.

Yeah skidoo isn't too thrilled about fulfilling that warranty in my experience so far. At least they wouldn't cover handle bars w a design defect last spring.

I ride a 2013 and the pins are an issue. Bow cycle is sold out of the things so it's a wider issue than just my sled.

Yup, see above. The clamp works and some 3/8 threaded rod does okay as a stick.

That sounds like RCMP code for they know the guy and pulled him over to see if he had drugs on him. Kinda like when they say they 'discovered' a massive stash of drugs when they pulled over a vehicle by Lake Louise for speeding. They guy wasn't speeding... they had a wire tap and knew about...
