I was told at my Kananaskis Trails Advisory Group (K.T.A.G.) meeting this past fall that the last bridge was replaced. I just e-mailed my government contact for the latest update.
By the way, The CrowSnow Riders are hosting their Poker Rally on Saturday, January 28, in conjunction with our S.T.A.R.S. Club Ride, leaving Atlas Trailhead in the morning.
If you enjoyed this past Sunday's poker rally at Cataract Creek - and even if you were unable to attend - you are more...
It is actually Glen, Snow Grooming Leader, semi-retired and full-time volunteer, and Darry Lennox - The Accessories Shop in High River - who never stops thinking and contributing to how we can keep moving forward and make Cataract Creek Snowmobile Trails better and better. All three of us take...
Most dealers have them, but call to be sure before you go to your favorite dealer.
I know they are available in High River, Okotoks, Cochrane, Balzac, and most locations in Calgary.
Gordon, welcome to Cataract! The Calgary Snowmobile Club Trails Committee members do their best for this dedicated Snow Vehcile Public Land Use Zone, specifically the trails. We are in our second year grooming, led by Glen, a diehard character if I have ever met one when it comes to the love...
Great screen shot! I see, you are west of the new fiberglass bridge, got it. I did not see any water when I was there last March, obviously time for another go over at Fording......
Summit X, I know you know what you are talking about here, but are you counting creek crossings from the Etherington parking lot, or just from where Baril Creek Trail departs from Baril Loop Trail?
I was thinking that, from where Baril Creek Trail originates off of Baril Loop Trial (where I...
Great, PM me you phone number for a conversation, we can chat about what you'd like to do - winter, summer, groom, trail clearing, volunteer at an event, are just a few.
Sorry I missed this post. I was there to do some prep work for the the poker rally next Sunday, yesterday. Next time perhaps? Or come out next Sunday for the Poker Rally - 3 hands for $20 with an A.S.A. Trail Pass, $30 for 3 hands without. Prizes are being put together now, but it appears...
A long time ago, the Government of Alberta put down cross-country ski trails on the east side of the Forestry Truck Road at Cataract Creek parking lot, and had a groomer there for the snowmobile trails on the west side of the Forestry Truck Road. I remember this from the early-mid 1990's...
I know, I know, I know......I can not stop or slowdown the man, he is a machine! That said, a voluteer like Glen is priceless. He has responsibility for winter grooming and signage for the Trails Committee, and takes these very much to heart. I can not say how much of a god-send this man is...
Your post is all well intended, but a serious potential blow to mountain town winter economies. As they say, you can't fix stupid - and let nature take its' course (no matter how callus that sounds)! If you are going that route, you should exempt individuals from socialized medicine, or charge...
Thanks for setting them straight! The signage is terrible at both staging areas and on the way in. I will be talking to Public Lands and Alberta Parks in hopes for finding correct signs to educate the public on the/this area.
Thanks for chatting with them and letting them know.
It is not that they are not allowed, it is that it is illegal for any motorized vehicle that is not a "Snow Vehicle" to be in the Cataract Creek Snow Vehicle P.L.U.Z. (Public Land Use Zone). This qualifies for snowmobiles, and snowbikes, as...
I received a report from one of the guys who has been over Fording Pass for a number of years now. I listen to what he says, as he can attest to conditions up to the pass and beyond. See below:
"Hey Scott - We went over the pass without any issues yesterday, Boxing Day. We weren't the first...
Quick question, so I understand your comment better......how is the trail in amazingly good shape so far - if your buddy hit a stump and broke an a-arm?
