As well, if you are bringing a snowmobile, do not unload it in the parking lot at Cataract Creek. We will leave the parking lot at 10 AM all together and drive down the Lost Creek Road together to the SLS bridge across Cataract Creek. We have arranged to unload there to be closer to the deep...

Relating a satellite phone message from last night from Glen: All is good at Cataract, 1 Degree above upon arrival in the dark with clear sky’s, all the snow is still there from last weekend, supposed to snow last night - a sprinkling. All good to go!

And our club groomer - new to us - has had almost 1,000 hours of volunteer work on it over the summer. It is back together and rolling/moving, and now we just have a few items we want to improve on the unit before we take it out to Cataract, when we know the snow is there and needs packing.

Cataract Creek Snowmobile Trails were built with beginner to intermediate riders (given today’s mountain riding that dominates the culture around these parts) in mind. The vast majority of the trails are set up with “family” riding in mind, but do access other areas that advanced riders can be...

    Powder face

Powderface is back in business for this coming winter, with all but one bridge replaced. The one location not replaced - I am told, on the Elbow Loop portion - is now very wide and "low", so the Gov't feels that enough snow will be present. They are currently contemplating/looking for a place...

    Fording riding area riding future

Glen, we need to get Darryl and his crew to take a ride on the access trail from the top of the pass, through the recently opened up trail, and to the river next season. See what more needs to be done for sledders, "from our side".

Just so you all are aware, Cataract Creek Snowmobile Trails are officially closed as of today. Given the closed regulations, the current government's focus on the eastern slopes, and the increased C.O. presence, it would not be advisable to be operating your sled at the Snow Vehicle P.L.U.Z...

I am not sure where you get this idea of being "free", as there are laws and regulations on all public lands. We are a group that works within the laws for all to enjoy both AEP lands, and Public Lands. There are a minority of users who do not know the laws and regulations, and the worst of...

Yes, the snow is still on the western most trails - Oyster Excursion, Fallers, and western most parts of Cataract Creek and Etherington - but it is not good getting to or returning from them. Other areas of AB are shutdown already - or never opened this winter, on mid-to-norther trail systems.

Closest place to stay is Longview, the riding area is inside Kananaskis Country. Longview has two places of Accommodations: Blue Sky Motel for a quiet night, and the Longview Hotel/Restaurant/Bar for a quiet to party time stay - depending on which day you are there, and which room they put you...

If the sled runs, you will get around. With Glen out there for a few days packing and starting to groom before the weekend, things should be looking up again since the Poker Rally.
