I just didn't buy it as a proper excuse. Seems more like some other "accident" occurred and this was just the bogus reason they provided. If an entire host lost power, I'd be changing providers pretty quick...... as you yourself say... that's what redundant power supplies (and clusters) are for.

I've always approached this from the opposite direction. I pay an additional whopping $3/month to have a lower deductible at $250. If I make any type of claim in just under 7 years, I'll be saving money. Only after 7 years of paying $3 am I starting to pay more than had I just had the $500...
