    Winter tires on a diesel

Running Cooper Discoverer 265/70-17 on Duramax 2500 for my Winter set. Got 3 winters and one summer (to burn the last bit off) from the last set and just put another new set on. Roughly 95,000 km out of the first set is fine in my books.

    Plumbing in slip tank

Not sure why you would risk it leaking when solenoid valves are so cheap.

    Plumbing in slip tank

If you leave a manual valve open, it will leak. Inline filter is cheap insurance and an extra level of filtration above your truck's fuel filter. In my last truck, I had brazed a nipple into my fill neck and plumbed in a 12v pump & solenoid valve. I also put a 12v buzzer on the switch so I...

    Favorite gloves?

I'm in the same boat as you. The True Adventure Gear gloves I bought were nothing special. Keep going back to my oldest 2 pairs of motorfist gauntlet gloves. Anything new I've tried (including Motorfist) have not measured up.

Thieves at Boulder - change your habits

Since it was just stolen last Sunday (Mar. 24th), it's doubtful that it belongs to us. Dropped it near the cabin in the morning and it was gone when we got back. They took his (which was full) and left mine, which was empty. If it has no marks that allow it to be claimed, I'd be happy to buy...

Thieves at Boulder - change your habits

Thought about doing that a time or two, but I know that I'd end up pouring it in one of my own engines.

Thieves at Boulder - change your habits

Time to question your normal habits. Had a LINQ jerry can stolen from Boulder on Sunday. Should have known to hide it elsewhere. Easy picking when there are so few people around this time of year. We've always dropped jerry cans, and never gave it a second thought.

    Charmac rear door

I had a trailer exactly like yours and feel your pain! Sounds like more trouble than it's worth though. The time and $$ invested to do it could probably go a log way towards buying a different trailer after selling yours. If the work done is not fantastic, you would also be killing resale...

I would have unsubscribed to this thread if I was him also - the crowd here is pretty cranky & unforgiving. Need some fresh snow to improve the mood around here.

    Downsizing trailers

I like the lower trailer way better, but it's a bit hard to compare due to the other differences in the trailers I've had. Went from a deck-over with lighter axles to a enclosed car hauler with heavy axles. The lower and stiffer trailer tracks way better than my higher trailer ever did. No...
