Aaron is a stand-up guy who volunteers a lot of time and effort promoting sledding around Whitecourt. He is part of a group of volunteers that work to give us the trail system we enjoy here. Ignorant comments to the contrary are not appreciated by me or our sledding community.
So far there is still pretty decent snow south-west of town. I would stay away from the Groat Creek trail though. It has not been groomed due to lack of snow and hills and creek crossings are nasty.
Rode Lucille on Thursday. Excellent grooming on trail! My compliments from a fellow groomer! Was nice to meet you at the PetroCan! Sledding was pretty good as well!
There is an area about 5KM long east of Tom Hill plowed to dirt by an oil company. Looks like a WKO on the well right on the trail. From the east end of the cleared trail to Whitecourt is groomed. There is about 7 KM east off Tom Hill road not groomed.
Thanks Ministik Man. We get complaints when we don't groom and now complaints when we do. You can make some of the people happy some of the time but...... Come up some time and I will take you out for a run! There is decent snow in places.
Groomed from Whitecourt to Summit cabin only. Was -15 at Groat campsite today and +6 where the trail crosses the Ocelot road. Decent snow at Ocelot and should be better farther west.
It is open and does access the south trail system. Snow is minimal and not enough to groom or fill creeks yet. Snow is a lot better as you go farther west and north. Trails from Whitecourt to Summit cabin are groomed. Check whitecourttrailblazers.ca
Did you do a hard pull with your new winch? Sometimes the cable will put enough pressure on the sides that it will put extra load on the winch all the time. Will it free spool out easily?
