Actually the heavier the tip the quicker it will engage, maybe they missed a piece of the broken in the clutch, that would raise your engagement rpm, what are you getting for max rpm?
I don't think you can do that with the Daltons, something is odd here for your engagement to rise 2000 rpms, are you sure nothing is binding or sticking, I have run three sets of Daltons now and have never seen the engagement rpm change that much, All three on 800 HO Cats.
I always bottom the set screws at the tip and bottom the next screw into the first one, etc. are you sure you have the correct weight range, if so and your engaging at 6000 you may have a binding problem in the primary!
Have you tried another exhaust valve servo yet? I went through this 3 years ago with my 2006 M7, checked all adjustments, clutching, reeds, cleaned exhaust valves, changed servo cables because they felt a little rough, spent hours on it with no luck, Changed Servo and it was fixed! Borrowed one...
Had the same problem, intermittently bog out and hold 6500 rpm, drove me crazy trying to find it, turned out to be faulty servo motor for power valves, if you've got a buddy with a cat just swap it to confirm before buying a new one!
few weeks ago i was looking at an old THH helmet in the garage and comparing it to my 509 cf helmet. they are the exact helmet down to the finest details. paid 120 for the THH helmet 2 years ago and 4 for the cf. kinda a joke if you ask me. makes a guy wonder who builds there goggles for them
Had an 06 M7 with the exact same problem, Servo Motor! Worked fine on a stand, but would fail when driving it, swap one from a buddys sled to test it befor buying a new one.
Rode Allen today. Old trail up consisted of dirt, rocks and glare ice, rode to the Super Bowl. Snow was fairly decent, I'd say 3 to 4 feet with a foot of powder in some places. Nobody wrecked. All in all a decent first ride. Will post pics later. iPhone ain't letting me.
