Thanks for your input, I've been monitoring them for sure. No signs of loosening up, and the spacers are a tight fit on the bolt, wide enough that they cover most of the spindle mounting surface, perfectly flat so they can't shift, either. The heim joints I used are much heavier then the OEM cat...
There are several threads about this modification on Snowest, some guys are just dropping the rear skid and adding elevate spindles to raise the front end - BDX has recently come out with a taller spindle as well. The intent is to make the Ascender chassis even more capable on the snow. My...
Haven’t had it on anything crazy steep yet. But as I mentioned, I have a Kmod coupled skid, so ski lift isn’t a big issue anyway. On setting #1, 1 can lift the skis at will, but still easy to control with the throttle. The big benefit to this change was that it made the the machine a lot more...
Seems to me that this entire thread is a moot point, as Cat doesn’t offer a factory 2S Turbo...
Good on Doo for releasing one, even though it’s not for me at that price point with the current boost levels. But lots of them will be sold regardless.
In all fairness, you can't compare the new single ply tracks to the older 2 ply units. We as consumers wanted lighter weight, so something has to give, no different then riding sleds from years past. They'd take a hit better, but were considerably heavier...
No worries. Yes, they Should have built a lighter sled, and maybe something with 70-75 hp, or at least given a power up kit with it. But at least they did something, and perhaps the other manufacturers will step up and offer a mid sized sled - anything to get kids off the Xbox, right? Yes...
I think the Blast is a stepping stone that is long overdue in the sled world. It was designed for kids (like the Polaris EVO), but brings a lot more to the table, and electric start / EFI is a bonus. Sure, a 600 or 800-850 has more power, but what 10-13 year old NEEDS 150-165 horsepower??? I...
Just a rundown of what I've changed (personal preferences):
- Fly aero taper bars with polaris grips and Pro RMK master cylinder / brake lever (not a fan of the big Cat lever or the bars)
- Vertical steering post setup from the Viper with CSP bushings
- Slydog Attack skis / Riot spindles
- B&M...
So, I've been trying a few setups on my 17 King Cat, thought I'd share them with you. Like many, I stepped up the boost with a flash, etc, changed clutching to make use of the added hp, and added a coupled rear skid to keep the front end down. I repurposed a Kmod I had on my 1100T, but found...
I’ve seen a couple 670’s in a REV. You need to cant the engine with a different motor plate, and short pods are used for the carbs. Ralph over at Split second did a couple...
Fox, Exit, Raptors, and even stockers work great - IF they are revalved for your weight and riding ability. Honestly I've no idea why anyone would buy off the shelf shocks from any manufacturer. Whatever you buy, get them revalved and sprung for your weight and riding style / ability.
This is just my experience. On my M1100T with an EVO big chute turbo (claimed 285 hp), the factory chain was toast after 500 km of mountain riding. So I installed a C3 belt drive, and the original belt was on the sled after 2500 additional Kms, no worse for wear, lots of shock loading, too. But...
Personally I think it was a good move by Cat to offer a mid sized sled. Attracts the future buyers. Those that think they should just stuff their kid on a new 600 or 800 are kidding themselves that the adolescents can handle that kind of power ( most of them anyway). Some of the best riders /...
I’m thinking that some “health issues” are present if that’s the wrap you choose for your vehicle. Maybe stop watching certain movies and playing the Xbox...
It’ll never happen. A blown clutch has happened to ALL brands over the years, and stuff just breaks. Sometimes defective parts, sometime improper assembly, and sometimes due to lack of maintenance or rider error. Sure, it would be nice to have ZERO issues, but the only way that’ll happen is if...
You’ll be a happy camper, it’s a good choice. And if you decide it needs more ponies later, Carl’s Cycle makes a great big bore for it - the 660 is very impressive at elevations under 10000’
I wouldn't worry too much, I've had good life out of clutches on boosted 4 strokes. That being said, a 911 cover is a cheap upgrade that adds a lot of strength to the Team primaries.
