Yup if you can get ADG or Lapua your laughin, I've had awesome luck with the Nosler 142 ABLR's out of my 6.5's, you might end up filing down your plastic x bolt mag for a touch extra length tho!
They are tight in my short action AI mags.
Yea its thin and brittle, it does the trick but once you've used Lapua, ADG, Peterson, Norma.
I have a couple pieces of Lapua 260REM brass that are on firing 11-12 primer pockets are still good to go.
Also to consider,
6.5 creed max 60k psi, 7PRC max closer to 65k psi.
Yup, thats my plan once my dies arrive and quality brass is available, not gonna waste components with garbage Hornady brass, its close to pressure with the factory ELDX's with the odd one having heavy(ish) bolt lift, read about lots of guys reloading once fired factory Hornady brass the max...
Thanks man! Love the short bolt throw on the X bolts! Its half MOA with factory 175 ELDX, was able to get 5 boxes of precision hunter with same batch and lot number but seeing anywhere for 5-20 ftps es over 5 shot groups. Really hoping we get some quality brass landed in canada sooner then later.
Jeez that's scary, Good Luck man, I hope you have better luck then others!
if you follow any shooter fourms state side have a look but there has been a load of issues with fierce lately and that's one thing that steered me away from them. Right down to one fella who's gun didn't even have...
I wanted a 7PRC but just didn't wanna wait so ended up on the 6.5 train. and 100% building a 6.5 will save you so much time developing a 150gr load in your RUM and save ya a pile of powder! ahaha. I have a few buddy's that bought tikka t3 6.5PRC's, did proof pre-fit barrel swaps and put em in...
One of the main drivers that pushed me away from the industry 12-13 years ago, even running a parts department was tough to deal with certain types of people,
you give them your knowledge and every resource to help them and when you get ch!t on it leaves a bitter taste that is hard to make sweet...
I was in the same boat in Feb 2020, had a 2011 Ram 3500 with close to 240k, had seen some hard km's and 7 sets of tires was starting to go to the shop on a regular basis.
Electrical gremlins were the most concerning, hours and hours of chasing and diagnosing, the straw that broke the back was...
Lapua is the way to go for reloading brass, ADG, Peterson all high quality and last as long as they are taken care of, was my thought process when i built my 260REM,
200 pieces of lapua brass and when its done, they barrel should be too.
Was gonna say Gee and Gee but didnt know if rocky was still there, he built me a nice little 120L alum aux tank for under my deck 10-11 years ago, still works great.
Laugh it up but we once had to wrap the alternator v belt in my jet boat around the hub of a chainsaw and run her for about 15 mins with the key on to charge the battery after forgetting the key and the selector switch on both....
