It started out with a few things changing for the new season and ended up being a lot more and a ton of work haha, but i am happy with the results!!!!
The list goes like this
-Changing skid to Holz suspension
-Tunnel extension 159 to 162, the suspension came with the rails so i said WTH haha...
O hey, i should mention, when you cut the tabs off to be able to mount the brake back onto the chain case make sure to grind them down flat to the tunnel. After i put mine all back together i noticed when i put the brake caliper back on, the outer pad corner was resting on the tunnel and this...
The side lip should go on the inside of the tunnel and both ears go underneath the running boards and bulk head. I also bent the tabs a little to fit the runnings boards and bulkhead some, mine had to be bent up a little but then the fit was perfect, you may want to trim the ears back a little...
That looks amazing ...... i got mine sorta close to it was a HELLL of a lot of work... it's an 07 Rev too so theres a chit load of rivets and different alum pieces so it makes it really difficult...
I just completed a specialty Drop and Roll in my 2007 Rev XRS, if you need more info like what sorts of tools you will need and how much you need to strip down the sled to get it done i can help ya out.
D&R helps clear snow out of the tunnel quicker with the added clearance and it doesn't...
Polishing is a true art, you can have the right tools, the right polish and still get it wrong... don't expect to get it perfect on the first try. If you are going to commit to it, go all out, don't get lazy, this is one dirty and time consuming job... I just recently spent around 5-6 hours...
Alignment Alignment Alignment, that's all there is too it. Float that secondary and you will be good, just make sure it can align itself with the allowed float (the clutch doesn't move all the way to one side or another, you can add washers to the end of the float spacer to get more float out)...
Thanks MM, Ralphs Arctic cat said they would do at and also Bow south suggested i take them to Walt Healy, theres a guy there that has done lots of doo drivers and does all the sled stuff for Walt, i left them there and well see if it gets done properly haha, i still may need yer buddies help if...
I need my stock 9tooth drivers pressed off my axle and the new 7tooth avids pressed on and correctly aligned, i have the shop manual with the measurements but can't find a place closer to my side of town in Calgary that will do it. Bow cycle south doesn't have the tools and the other bow cycle...
Pretty much what Modman said.
It gets your running boards out of the snow so they don't drag, this will effectively let you dig a bigger hole without getting stuck (you hope :P). Also clearing snow out of the tunnel is a good thing, too much snow packing in there and it takes up HP that should...
I use a flap wheel to clean things up if i happen to nick anything or something that the air angle grinder and a rollock pad can't fix. Maybe i should try starting with it instead haha :D
Good advice as usual Glen :) thanks
After doing LOTS of these i have found this to be the easiest way. If you have a decent angle grinder get yourself a walter HP Combo disc (cuts and grinds) then grind off the back side of the rivet flat, whatever is being held on by the rivets will pretty...
Daryl at Racers Edge gets his powdercoating from Top Gun Coatings and his anodizing is usually done from Andersons in Edmonton. He also told me he uses a place in Okotoks but i didn't catch the name. I think im going to check out a few places in town like; Alberta Base, ACE Specialty Anodizing...
Ya figured that was the reasoning, better not screw with the measurements on how much they call to move it and just deal with my problem in other ways, looks like ill need to drill more holes :P yay !!!
My biggest issue has been i am trying to do too many things at once, trying to juggle...
After reading the instructions for the D&R i noticed they call to move the skid back... oh crap.. LOL sorry for the thread jack Boots. I never thought of that !!! with Rear drops and cut snow flap your cooling will be shoot to hell... hmmmm, that's no good. I might need an extension now :(
Nice extension ! good work boots.
Going from 159 to 162 i should be able to get away with it, my snow flap sticks out a little to so even if it's in line i think it will be alright :P if it's not enough ill just take the snow flap off haha ! :)
Are you going to put the tail light back on ...
Maybe thats installed from a shop then, all i know is thats what he told me!! maybe he got a raw deal who knows, could of been rounding up.
that is what im talking about it, i guess it's polished and powedercoated... whatever it is... it flakes over time.
