BC's new Off-Road legislation is coming.

Seriously, why does the government not understand the simple thing to do here. Simply put, only apply the tax to NEW atvs, sxs, etc and put the revenue into supporting the off-road community. This can be maybe opening up trails or clubs, etc. 12% seems quite high, should be more like half...

2012 etec wont start cold over -25

I don't ride one, but when I started a 2012 yesterday morning at -26, it sputter and die or backfire. Finally, i pulled and when it sputtered, just gave it some gas. Definitely not the greatest cold weather starter. Other thing i noticed is the pull handle is piss-poor for pulling with two...

I don't know what else to do help!

It's going to take some time for him to become good at it. I think more than anything is that he's timid of either breaking something on the sled, hurting himself when falling off, or the embarrassment of falling off. What i would do is find a open, flat field that has reasonable snow. Park...

    Anybody watch "The Following?"

I watched from the beginning, but haven't seen anything on season #2. Definitely refreshing and on the edge of your seat TV.

    Looking for Tracks for RZRs

After a few years with camoplast, i would also recommend them. Top notch performance, durability, and warranty. Just make sure when your looking for tracks that they are UTV recommended. Running a UTV on an ATV kit can lead to problems mainly due to the idler wheels stressing the tracks to...

    Missing Snowmobiler

On the saskhardcoreatv forum, a close friend of the victim posted that the man who was older was out riding and became stuck. They then suspect a heart attack. RIP

If you had $4500 to buy a new sled what would you look at.

I'd search for a crossfire 7 or 8. There fast, reliable, and have a longer wider track. You can ride all day on the trails with the ability to carry some fuel and the longer track to bridge bumps better. Or play in the drifts or deep snow.

Back country vs power claw track

I have a back country 1.75 on my 10 switchback. Is it a good track? Yes, but really only for up to a 50% trail/ 50% off trail rider. For a predominantly off-trail rider, i do not recommend the back country. I would recommend a track from a high country which may be easier said then done since...

    Wood floor for shop?

What is the overall goal of the shop? Are you going to park your vehicles in it each day and use it a fair bit or more for storage and occasional wrenching. Concrete is the better value in the long run in both situations. Sectional pouring isn't a great idea as listed above, but you also...

Staring and riding a sled in minus 30 C or colder

Let your sled warm up completely, right up to 120. Lift up the back end and drop it a few times to loosen it up. Put on track stand and conservatively spin it over. Ride conservative for the first few miles until your clutches and belt get some heat in them. Make sure you have spare plugs...

    Polaris Snow Machines

It's amazing how far the snowmobile industry has come. Often wondered the reaction if you could travel back in time to the late 60's or so and drop a new pro rmk, xm, turbo, etc in front of them. Begs the question in what will snowmobiles will be like in another 40-50 years. Even 5-10.

    Saskatoon

I'm only here for school, but I also agree. I try to avoid the peak times as much as possible. Sometimes I wonder about bringing the cat from home with an angle blade and having some fun.

    Farmers and Land Rental agreements

We do all cash rent (25/75), so they ride the boat as well. A realistic land rent in the area should be in the $50 range for good land, but the "big" guys are in the $70's. We also don't have a limit on the rent. But over the past few years, it would have been cheaper for us to pay the...

"Mud-bogging on crown land in Alberta will become quite illegal in the near future"

Re: "Mud-bogging on crown land in Alberta will become quite illegal in the near futur I think it is a question on where do you go. Atv trails don't have the mapping and direction that snowmobile trails have. When somebody has a limited amount of days off and is going on a trip, they want to...

What are flat landers riding these days?

From strictly meeting people on the trail or at rallies and such, I figured newer polaris's (11 and up) outnumbered the rest 5 to 1. Saw 10 pro-rides for every r-motion. There will be a ton of 146 summits out. I've got a switchback 1.75.

How far north we gotta go?

I'd keep driving past melfort and onto Nipawin or Carrot River. If your going based on distance, i'd ride to hudson bay and back. None of the trails in the bush are groomed as of this past weekend, but theres enough snow on the sides for lube. Hudson bay was reporting up to 60cm in the bush...

    quad in deep snow?

Tracks in my mind are the only option for winter. There performance even in 2" of snow is so much better than tires. Put a small drag behind a wheeled bike in 6" of snow and there's so much wasted in spinning. The tracks don't even feel it. Try putting an ATV with tires on this groomer and...

Whats a decent 2nd sled for the prairies?

X2 on the crossfire. Change out the ripsaw for a 1.75 and you've got a do all sled for the prairies. Put on a fuel can and some scratchers and you can now rip down the trail, play in the snow, or do whatever. You may not be able to do everything a mountain sled will do, but rider skill will...

    Maintaining ATV Trails

The atv trails around my cabin where I hunt and sled need attention. The problem is willows and branches overhanging. The most overgrown areas are only accessible after it freezes up and there is a minimum of 15 miles to do. Its too much to do by hand. Looking for ideas for a vertical...
