What year are these trucks you are towing with? I wouldn't think the HO dodge wouldn't be that gutless, weren't they 800 ft lbs and have now bumped it up to 850 for 2013? I agree on the fuel economy of a 12 or older dodge but u would think the 13 should be similar to the ford and chev with the...
Good thread!
I just went from a 2000 ford diesel with a gvwr of 8800 to a new one ton with gvwr of 11500 to get the extra payload. My old trucks rating was an embarrassment, only 800ish pounds of payload. I used to overload it with a quad and a gear bag. I ended up putting air bags in it and...
I'm sure they will jack up the diesel price soon. Then the real kick to the groin will be gas will drop back down and diesel will be way higher for a long time. It seems like that is what always happens anyway.
That is certainly on my mind now. I didn't hear about it until the Friday after it happened.
On Thursday I had two guys in their 20s come over to look at my 2000 super duty I was selling on kijji and ask almost immediately to go for a test drive. There was no way I was going to let them go...
Thanks. I heard something about a few people complaining about a shudder when towing heavy loads. I don't think it was transmission related though. Sounded more like axle wrap under heavy loads.
Thanks for the pic. Got one with the trailer hooked up? I am going to try without bags at first to see how it works.
Do you have the controller? If so, any pics of where you mounted it?
My heaviest load will be carrying my rzr and towing my trailer so I'm curious how much it will sag. My 250 had air bags to level things out but I was hoping this one wouldn't need them.
Ya its got the locker. I haven't tried disabling the advancetrac yet but I have in my 12 gas ford work truck. Long press the traction control shuts it off so hopefully it's the same.
How often were u getting regens before? How much did the additive help? It's done one so far on the drive...
Thanks for the info. I have heard of some high mile ones and so far the 6.7 seems like a good engine. I will miss the simplicity of my 7.3 but I'm sure this thing will pull way better and it's already using less fuel so I know I'll be happy with it. The big thing to me is the creature comforts...
What year was yours? What did you buy? I agree it may not last as long but it is what it is. Not that I put a lot of kms on my trucks anyway. Put 72000 on my 7.3 in six years and it now has 204k on it.
After six years of owning my first ford (2000 super duty 7.3l diesel) I decided it was time for an upgrade. I was so impressed with my old truck and how reliable it has been that I decided to stick with ford.
While searching for a new truck I test drove the Dodge and the Ford. I didn't look...
