My can is from Specialty Sleds. It's the second one I've bought from them for my last 2 sleds. They work great, lightweight, small, killer sound. He told me they did a lot of testing on the original Etech can in regards to precise placement of the probe. I'm not sure if they manufacture these or...
I don't care about drag racing, I'm a mountain rider. My brother in law(who knows nothing about sledding)often asks "how fast does that thing go?". I tell him I really don't care how fast it goes, its not made for speed it's for climbing mountains. How fast does a '12 summit 163 go? 70? 80? 90mph?
I've had Ken's(Specialty Sleds)can on my last 2 sleds and I think they're great. Nice finish, nice sound. It's not loud until the power valves open up then it absolutely wails. Ken says that the placement of the probe is very important for the Etech and they researched this and did testing...
90% of the sleds that leave my dealership of choice have a can installed at the dealership. My suitcase muffler has never seen exhaust. Anyone need a mint, unused suitcase muffler for an 800 Etech? I weighed everything I changed on my sled with a digital fish scale: Stock suitcase-18.5lbs...
I like the ones with the most pictures. I was too busy skipping school to go sledding so I never ever did learn how to read. On a serious note though, where is this new MountainSledder available in Edmonton? SnoWest is my favorite so far because it caters to us crazy old mountain goats.
Patrick Kane and his Chicago Blackhawks were in Edmonton last night. As we all know, in the U.S., it's only upper crust kids that make the NHL. That being said, Kane boldly waged revenge on the Oilers for he way he was treated in past games. Well guess what? The oilers blew them away again...
A little off topic here, I know. I ride a '12 Summit-X 163 in the hills but I have a perfectly preserved SRX 700 that I'd like to make go as fast as possible. Anyone have one of these old dogs? It has a 1-1/4 track I put on back in 98. I'm just looking for ideas for clutching or anything that...
I had a pair of those FXRs with the quick laceup metal hooks. One of those hooks got bent straight out and scratched the crap out of my tunnel on the first ride on a new sled. Very stiff boot. Motorfist or Klim is the way to go. They're made for sledding not snowboarding.
SOS-good shovel. Don't trust the saw! I still have the scar on my thumb from 2 years ago from when mine snapped and gashed me. Buy a Stihl saw and keep it in your backpack.
Check out snowfarmers.com, they're pretty good for keeping us posted on current conditions for Valemount including avalance info. The Canadian Avalanche Center is also something that every mountain sledder should have on their home page. sledshot.com seems ok for Golden and Revy.
Thanks guys. I think I used goo-gone or goof-off on my last sled and it turned the black panels a bit white. The only way I could get them looking good again was to constantly wax them with Tutle Wax Ice. I have some stuff that I think will work fine. It's a citrus spray cleaner from a company...
What's the best stuff to use to prep the panels before installing the wrap? I used my heat gun to take the original decals off but there is some adhesive residue remaining. I don't want to use anything that may discolor or damage the panels?
I'd like to know where your wife works, kellyandhisdoo! I have my house, 3 vehicles and 2 sleds insured at LloydSadd insurance. The best they could do for full coverage on my 12 Summit was $885 a year. I told them if I can find someone who is cheaper for the sled I'll be taking all my insurance...
Any old sleds are cool. I refuse to part with my 98SRX 700. Keep it in good shape dude! It'll be a classic some day. Have fun and welcome to the world of sledding, theres nothing like it.
