    Foot ware / boots

Dunlop’s 100%. Actually I prefer the Dakota or Baffin or HH branded ones over the actual Dunlop’s, but that style of boot with a bama sock is by far my favourite. Warm and comfortable in any weather, and reasonably easy to manoeuvre around in.

    Lets see your enclosed

This is similar to how I have mine setup as well. I have a few 110v plugs wired to the shore power too, but no inverter yet. I’ve been thinking of adding an inverter with a switch on to one circuit (I have a small breaker panel already installed). Wouldn’t be as ideal as the automated...

    Any Other Cabbage Fans?

Just finished up the last of this year’s sauerkraut. 23 gallons worth in all, just under 200lbs of cabbage. Grandpa passed away a few years ago and so Grandma has given me all the stuff and now I give her some sauerkraut in return each year. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with some different...

    Quartz countertops ???

Lot of variables with different layouts, edge profiles, thickness, backsplash or not... and mainly the brand and colour profile too. Some companies claim they’ll install TCE brand quartz for $30 per square foot. For me, that’s not what I’m looking for, but there really is an entire range of...

    Quartz countertops ???

Old thread... just seeing what the latest info is on countertops these days that anyone might recommend? We’re undecided on upgrading still, but it seems there’s so many different fabricators and suppliers out there. Looking at quartz, but don’t want to end up with something we regret in a few...

    Home/Auto/Sled Insurance

I switched to Aviva (with a broker) 5 years ago. Although I feel like I’m always paying too much, I have shopped around on occasion for comparisons and haven’t found anything better yet. With auto premiums in Alberta going up around 20% on average this year, Aviva also decided because of covid...

Best place to buy a new appliance?

I was satisfied with coast on a recent appliance purchase. I’ve personally had poor experience with Canadian Appliance Source and have thus stayed away. If you’re ok with a short drive north of the city, I’ve always found Westlock Home Furnishers to be simple, honest, and very straight forward...

    Life Insurance?

Universal / whole life policies with Canada life include coverage for all “extreme” sport activities, including snowmobiling of any type (heli skiing, parachuting, etc...).

    Shipping firearms

Last I was aware, still had to use Canada Post for firearms and I think it was purolator (maybe other couriers too) for ammunition. That’s for within Canada anyway.

    BC Travel for Albertans

Just back from 10 days in the Revy Nakusp area. Spent some time in and around the towns, as well as out at some of the more remote lakes and hiking/biking trails. Never had any issues. All the locals were friendly as always.

    Lets talk pressure washers.

Same for me - no complaints so far. Electric start, works great!

Algae control for dug outs or large ponds.

For us, we tried going the cheaper route at first by getting some copper sulphate (ufa, peavey mart, etc - easy to find), but the problem with chemicals is if you don’t get the dosing right the first time, it can actually make the problem worse. We were doing one of our dugouts to try and keep...

What Did You Do In Ur Garage?

Just use shell premium for the mix, with some fuel stabilizer every 6 months, and don’t worry about it. Chainsaw, weed eater, and leaf blower start first or second pull all the time. I usually go through a 5L batch of mixed gas every 2 years - sometimes every year if I use the chainsaw lots, but...

    Farmer talk

Between last summers monsoons and the start of this summer so far... same thing. We managed to get our seeding done by second week of May, but pretty much since then it’s been solid water everywhere. Every row is constant muck. We have pooling water on top of sand hills even! What has come up is...

    Am I loosing my marbles?

Hard to say for sure, but most likely it’s just the website that was recently updated or modified. Changed the colours, updated hyperlinks, reformatted a paragraph or list to standardize with a newer overall website template update, etc...

Looking for snow removal options next winter.

Definitely worth the consideration. I can do my 200’ driveway and big area all around the house, garage, and sheds in 30-45 min usually. That’s with a 30” walk behind. Don’t get the little cheap ones though - need some weight and good traction and you can move a lot of snow in decent time...

    2020 Golf Season

I’m not a golf course owner, but yes, the provincial gov’t (AB) has deemed golf courses as non-essential. So, with only essential businesses allowed to be open currently, golf courses are to remain closed for the time being. Im not sure about other provinces, but probably the same.
