There is still room available in these courses and we still have openings for your private groups as well.
Give us a call to set up a custom course for you and your group!

Hey all,
At Frozen Pirate, we know that not everyone fits into our typical private course setup and we have just scheduled three "open" intake courses based out of the Valemount area.
These courses will consist of class sessions Friday and Saturday evenings, with the field day completed on...
Familiar with the term "remote triggering?"
You dont necessarily need to be in the steeper start zones to trigger activity.
Incline, aspect, elevation, terrain characteristics and your avalanche problem all come into play when selecting terrain. These decisions need to be made wisely and...

Hey Adam,
Sorry for the delay. The AST 2 involves much more field time (3days) and focuses on trip planning, terrain use and selection and snow stability analysis, advanced companion rescue, terrain management based on local hazard etc.
Its an involved course that I think many will benefit from.

WOW....HOT HOT HOT
Spring certainly has set in. The recent rain events dropped about 15cm of snow in the alpine although the sun has killed it. Riding is good in the mid to late afternoons once the surface slushes up.
Great time to get exploring although, please respect the sun at the hot...
I may not always be around on the days you want to come, but I do love mountain biking and would do this for free if we did the odd man out thing so I got to ride too.
I dont really have room for the bikes but there is a local storage company. Might be worth checking in with them?
This is likely to late for many although I would still like to put a bug in your ear for next year. If you are looking for a great business write off and would like to support sledder education, below is the description of a Memorial Fund for one of our great ambassadors who recently left us...
You are getting on the right track here. We do have a new amazing tool for information like this. The Mountain Information Network on Avalanche Canada, it has been mentioned a few times in this post I believe. Unfortunately this extremely valuable tool has seen VERY little uptake from the...
Awesome discussion everyone, thank you for staying on track and keeping relevant. There are some many great ideas and statements in this thread it will be shame to see it go and it think it is something that we can review for a long time and learn from the messages held in it. (any chance we...
How can fix the seemingly un-reachable mountain "sledder"?
This weekend we witnessed so many scenarios that almost made it embarrassing to be labeled as a mountain sledder. The picture below is one of them. There are other examples and even one occasion where we very gently approached groups...
Looks like we will have quite a bit of sun this week so this will affect the open areas a bit. The rider numbers are down a lot early/mid week so the areas just off the goat path should still be quite good.
Heading out tomorrow to judge first hand so Ill bring back some info.
AST2 is vital for many of the mountain riders that want to leave the open meadows and cuts and push into bigger terrain. The course involves a significantly larger amount of field time and the actual implementation of a plan and and continued terrain assessments. Its the perfect next step...
