Just weighed my sled tonight with 4 digital shipping scales. Sled came out to 617 lbs with everything included below.
2014 Viper XTX
162" 2.5" camo extreme track
timbersled skid with fox shocks and resivoirs
antistab kit
extra wheels near center shock
EarthX 36D battery
Full tank of fuel...
I know what your saying and last year that is what I went along with until I drove my nytro MTX for the day. The Nytro was not nose diving in the snow and in the shop on cement it will back up and drive on it no problems (with new carbides) where the Viper with the TS skid dives really bad and...
Thanks Crazyjames. I will look into that tonight. The skid did not come with any. Timbersled sent this skid out in a rush I think. It was missing bump stops and the rails caps on it were used. They did send me antistab kit though and did not ask for that.
Randy not sure on ride height. Wanting...
That is a good question. I will have to look at it closer to see which one bottoms out first. I just know the strap is fully extended. I am running the powder pros. Wanted something close to the stock yamaha skis as possible.
The limiter strap is all the way out. Suspension is set to the second hole down on front and second hole down on rear which is where the stock mtx position is. The skid does not have the washers as it is the new style that has the coupler.
I think the front shock has 75 psi so I will bump it...
Anyone have any tips to reduce the ski pressure when using a timbersled skid? This is on a viper 162. The skis just stick to the ground when backing up or even going forward as the track just spins under the sled. On my Nytro MTX with stock skid but Skinz front end the amount of weight on...
The nytro is a great sled, it just needs to be driven differently. The power is fantastic and I really enjoy it. I have a Turbo viper as well. I can still drive the nytro better than the viper as I am more used to the Nytro chassis still.
Yes, I really hated doing this to the sled but it was needed as it choked out so bad in the deep snow. It has me worried that it will bust apart on the first rollover and lose the filter. Would like to cut it down a bit but not sure how long others are. Turbo hose is not cheap.
I have a 2013 162 MTX that I put up for sale. It has the skinz a arms, elka stage 5 shocks, skinz boards, etc. I think it handles great. I am still more used to it than my Viper. I can handle it better, dangle better through the trees and sidehill and downhill turns much better than I can on...
Thanks. I love building grizzlies. 600lb bike that handles great, super nimble and easy to toss around with power. Pretty tough to beat. Lots of fun. Got an 804 in the works right now.
No worries Cody. Just through it out there. Only doing a weekend trip anyway. Be nice to ride with some other Yamaha guys. Guys would see that it is not the sleds fault, it is my lack of ability, lol. Someone that could ride like you could change some opinions on what these sleds can do.

Doesn't the MCX kit correct for elevation by adding boost? So sea level hp would be the same as 10,000 feet?
Does this kit have elevation compensation or manual boost control? Closed or open loop EFI?
Been around this site for a few years but never really posted and forgot I even signed up.
From Manitoba and well known for building Yamaha Grizzlies pushing triple digit hp. Just got into the sledding scene a few years ago and now got the bug to build sleds. Cut up a few nytros in the past...
You can also take the PTO out and use Green Loctite for slip fit joints. It takes the play out and silences it. Seems to last forever as I have not had to redo it for a few years.
I have been running the 8DN since first week of February. Blew both my belts in Montana/Wyoming and had to use the 8dn. It actually made a big difference as it seems to hold rpm way better than stock as my RPM were all over the place. Going to stick with the 8DN now or until the 8JP is improved.
