in 1969 i got my first bike.a1965 Honda SS125. i pushed the chassis home about 5 miles. then went back with a wagon.hauled the motor home.it didnt have enough compressio to start with elec start untill warmed up. so dad and i hauled it to Alberta Cycle in Edmonton and traded it almost straight across for a new 1970 Honda CT90, rode that yr, then gave to my sister, she still had it. bought a used 160 Honda. then a new SL350. then a new CB350, used CB450. New 74 CB750.then after a bad accident with it.stopped riding street bikes while i had the snowmobile shop till 91 when moved to Barrhead. local Honda dealer had a nice looking 76 GL1000. for $300..he said the compression is too low to run, needed complete rebuild.. my boys were 9 and 10 at the time.. they had just finished adjusting the valves on there XR80s and suggested they do the same on the 1000. the tappets were deliberatly tightened to give it a low compression reading.after they adjusted them,i put some gas in it,checked oil and boosted it ,it started right up.. wife and i put over 100,000 on that old 1000. since that bike have had a dozen Gold Wings. i triked a CX500 for the wife and a GL1100 for myself..made from scratch..narrowed Hyundia Pony differentials. and rebuilt a rolled GL1800 with a CSC trike kit that i sold in order to move back to Whitecourt in 2012. then a 98 GL1500 Gold Wing which burnt in my shop fire on 2013.after rebuilding the shop i got a 93 GL1500 and put a used Voyager kit on it that the wife hated, sold it. then started down sizing to different V twin bikes..Honda 1300 .Honda 1100. 3 Honda 750 Shadows. Yamaha Road star and then in 2021 i was run over by a pickup in my own shop.drunk backed into me and crushed me in to the hoist.breaking all toes.ankle.lower leg.C5 and L3 vertabra in back. after a month i got the dam Pfzer vacinne that left my lungs full of blood clots and all over my body under skin. i lost 50% of my strength after that and couldnt hold up a 750 Shadow.. last yr i found a nice lil Honda rebel 250 which i enjoy. sorry for all the rambling... but im still riding at 70. pulling my 1955 Coke machine trailer too. i built that in 05 for my Trips to Nebraksa on the Gold Wing.
