I will forward it over to Marvin & Wes, if they are out grooming they will likely open the gate...... until such time that we actually "open" the trails we leave all the gates shut.

If it is an issue, we've had really good luck so far with the new council and getting problems resolved.

I will update as soon as I have one for you!

Please stay off the groom with quads. I ripped an older dude a new ass Saturday. He was on a first groom 2 day old trail riding a 2up can am with a baby and his wife on it. He was following I'd assume his 2 kids on RENEGADE's chewing the **** out of all the corners on the trail. I was riding a sweet trail with my 73 yr old mom and my brothers 4 young kids until we ran into QUADS. The young’s on they’re sleds really had a hard time riding and taking the corners with the deep tire ruts. Aged 7,8,10,13. We were between rr60-63.

Statement from the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club & Lac Ste Anne ATV Club regarding ATV's UTV's on GROOMED Trails

ATV’S ON TRAILS

The mapped, maintained and approved snowmobile trails in our area are looked after by the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club.
When the snow accumulates around 10 inches most ATV’s have difficulty maneuvering the hills and trails, which at that time the snowmobile club begins grooming and the club would ask for respect from the ATV community.
Some of the snowmobile trails are on private land and these owners only open the trail to snowmobiles and ATV’s become trespassers. Snowmobilers must purchase a trail pass to use private property which provides our club and land owner with liability insurance. This trial pass helps fund the costs occurred in grooming and maintaining the trail. The greatest advantage of having maintained snowmobile trails is that we can groom them and make riding much safer and help prevent trespassing. After many hours of volunteer work and much expense a well groomed snowmobile trail can be destroyed by ATV’s.
So therefore the snowmobile club asks that ATV users to be respectful and stay off when trails are groomed and most importantly do not use private land.
The Snowmobile Club is open to ATV use on “non groomed trails” that are on public lands.
As both groups are OHV and still are blessed to have a place to ride it is in all best interest to work together.
It is a privilege not a right to have trails in Alberta and that can be revoked at any time by any level of government.
A snowmobile is designated as such when manufactured. Any vehicle (bike, truck or ATV) altered and fitted with tracks cannot be designated as a snowmobile (insurance issues).

I know the snowmobile club sometimes grooms some of the multi-use trails in the county as well. When riding out there, is it obvious whether you're on a snowmobile trail or not? That is, are the sled trails well signed?

Yes, all the Snowmobile trails are signed, and if people watch there should be little orange snowmobile diamonds up around the trail as well.

If it's groomed, the ask is to use respect and remain off of it.

Was by Rangerton campground and stopped for a break. CO drove up and asked for Insurance/Registration and a chat about booze. One of our group did not have registration and got tagged. No tracks on the way out there however on the way back there was lots. No tracks on the way up to Sangudo on the river and no open water.

this frustrates me sooooo much...... Our groomer will probably be out at least one more time after Saturday's rally...... the quads really make those operators "unhappy"........

By chance did you make an attempt to educate them? I didn't really know any better until I saw peeps on S&M bitching about the damage I did out at Long Island Lake several years ago.

So what the solution here? Obviously, if it's not private property, there's not much you can do if they decide they don't give a chit. Maybe take pictures and plate numbers? ...but what to do with the pictures?

Alternatively. Stop grooming then they'll just get stuck

Nope, me and a buddy were stopped for a pop at the roads end of the trail just west of west cove where the trail meets the road/lake entrance and they were flying. If they were stopped i woulda said something but i'm not gonna go chasing guys and play the warden...
