Hey guys I have found a Fuzion 260 toyhauler for a good deal. It is 30ft overall length. I am wondering if anyone has experience pulling a bumper toyhauler ? I have heard horror stories that they are a hand full to pull with bad sway issues. I have a 3500 gmc 6.0L. I will be towing it up
to 500 km trips so I don’t want to be tressed the whole time. Any experience would help to make my decision to buy it or not

I basically have the identical size TH. Weighs in around 9000lbs fully loaded with 2 machines. Your 3500 will handle it fine, but expect frequent fuel stops and slow hill climbs with that 6 O. 500km = 1.5 to 2 tanks of fuel I reckon depending on tank size. I averaged 6-7mpg pulling my trailer at 100km/h with a 2500hd 6 O.

Glad I had a company fuel card. Half a tank from red deer to rocky!!

They can be heavy for sure, and they take a little more attention as far as making sure the tongue weight is correct to prevent swaying.....a good WDH is a necessity. Your gasser will burn more fuel for sure but that’s the way it goes. If you find it unbearable towing with it you can re-gear your axles for a couple of grand to make it perform better and get better mileage. Still way cheaper than buying a diesel truck.

I wouldn't say you will be stressed but having a diesel pulling a 5th wheel is a lot less stressful then pulling a bumper pull with a gasser.

Yes I do agree with that. I own a fifth whee right now and just currently sold my old 2006 Duramax and recently bought this gasser. Once my injectors went in that Duramax and it was 5000$ out of my pocket to fix it. I gave up on diesels and I don’t drive enough to make it worth buying a new one under warranty. I have towed my tri axle dump trailer with 14000lbs of gravel and the trailer weighs around 4000lbs so that’s 18000lbs total and I was actually impressed with how the 6.0 towed it. Does it have the low end grunt of a diesel? No but it gets the job done and a lot cheaper then a diesel. I know the truck will pull the weight I am more worried about how I have heard those toyhaulers sway bad.

Is your dump trailer a bumper pull or 5th wheel?

Bumper pull. But it is low to the ground and I am able to load it right

If you tow that fine I’m sure you’ll be ok with a bumper pull toy hauler. The longer trailer will sway less then the shorter heavier one IMO.

I owned a 30' bumper pull toy hauler and pulled it with a 2500 duramax. Get the heaviest distribution hitch you can find and set it up right. If it is set up good you will forget the trailer is even there (except for your 6l revving) I could hum along at 120 with no issues at all even in windy conditions. It was a triple axle though not sure if yours is

No it is only a tandem axle. But it is tall the one I’m looking at. This is a picture I found with a truck hooked up

Ok and that trailer doesn’t sway what so ever. I figured the longer it is it would sway more and how tall it is makes a difference in wind I’m sure

You'll notice it in the wind for sure. Anything with that big sail will get pushed around. My big trailer 5th wheel handles wind pretty good and is easier to tow then my bumper pull enclosed trailer though. But I think you will be fine with that trailer. You can add the anti sway and load bars which makes a huge difference with some trailers as well.

His trailer looks identical to my older Tahoe and probably weighs close to the same. It might be a sail, but the wind doesn't affect it much because of its weight. At least mine doesn't behind my 2500hd diesel. I don't recall it doing it behind my 2500hd gasser either.

The sway is usually always due to tongue weight. Friend of mine has a 30' toy hauler and with the side by side and gear in the back it had a crazy sway. He ended up bolting a 1" plate under the propane bottles near the hitch and it stopped the sway. Also he upgraded to a commercial type trailer tire.

I have a 07 Desert Fox which is 27 ft ball to bumper which I tow with a 2500 duramax with a 2700 payload. Same truck/trailer since 09. Very stable unit. Twice down to Colorado and Moab where they have some 75MPH speed limits. No issues.

One thing I have noticed that really makes a difference for sway is the wheelbase on a trailer. Wide spacing between axles makes for a super stable ride. And shocks. For some reason most trailers don’t have shocks. Put some on if you don’t have them.

I just sold my 2014 Fuzion TH that I had posted on S&M. I never had toys in the back but with full fuel tank and 106Gal of water it towed perfectly. Never swayed in crosswinds while driving to Rocky and I never used anti sway devices, Just 1500 lbs weight distribution hitch. Things might have been different had I put toys in the back.

My bumper pull toy hauler pulls nice! But the axles are far back. Without my sxs it’s heavy on the hitch. It has “air ride” suspension on the axles, its not rubber air bags it rubber blocks on the spring mounts. It rides smoother then the truck!
