here are a couple of black powder pistols my uncle gave to my brother. One is a Ruger Old Army and i'm not sure what the other one is. He bought them new in 1972 and never fired them. The one condition he gave my brother was he could only have them if he shot them. They are a blast (no pun intended) to shoot!!

I dont remember the version but it was the 1971 model. The year I was born. Hoping to buy one some day. Had the chance at the one gun show for 500 bucks but I couldnt really afford to spend the cash on it at the time so let it go. Everyone I saw after that was 700-1100 bucks. My last cool gun was a done up Tikka Tactical with a Nightforce scope. Parted it out to buy my first sled. Had it out to 700m and very accurate. Also tried a 338 lapua from remington but didnt like the rifle. The ammo is ok but in a different rifle.

Was there quite a bit of punch behind the 338 you tried wild1? My brother was looking at them but I told him I thought they were unpractical.

My Remington Sendaro 300 Ultra Mag 3/4" group at 100yds 1 1/2 at 200yds.
10.5# gun, doesn't kick as bad as some say but it does push you a little!
Went through about 9" of tree at 200yds and stuck into the next tree about 2 1/2".
Everything on the home quarter section is now in range from the yard.

Looks like you have a flyer there with a shooter she might be a pretty impressive gun.

Pulled one a little, this is factory amo, making empty brass still. Hand loads will tighten things up a little.
Gun has more capability than I do.

Well considering it has the world record right now for a sniper hit at 2300m yes. I bought a scope that was supposed to be set up to use on a 50 cal my rifle broke it. I also got kissed by it a few times when I first used it. If you buy one make sure you use something that has a huge relief like a night force. And wear safety glasses. Dont buy the Remington. Savage looks to be ok or a custom. To get any good use out of it you need to be shooting long distances and reloading. I am talking the 1-2km range. Any closer is a waste.

I have about half now of what I did. Having been shooting in about 2 years now. I used to be a great shot on the range but probably lost it. It is something you have to keep up with.

Yeah thats what we heard about it being a good sniper rifle (lapua)but for what we do (hunting) it didn't make sense. how ever it would be a nice addition to the collection, I just wish I could get out more then I do.

Might be worth it at a grand but the scope is garbage. I would see if they would sell it cheaper without the scope.

It is good if you are hunting coyotes at long range. A guy posted pics of one he shot at 600-700m. Cant remember which. Put a pretty big hole in it. I think it would have been a quick death.
