I have swam enough miles and been in the water enough to know that I can't smell underwater. You can bet all the friggin' money you want and you, kind sir, would lose!

I think the fish "taste" more than smell but that is just my thought!

For the reality of fishing, fish can trace a scent very quickly. I don't think it is smell as we know it!

Living in active bear country, it is within the law to clean fish for a shore lunch and put the entrails into the water. I have done this and this act was in rapidly flowing water (entrails, head and tail of cut throats were thrown in the rapids). Minutes later, I caught a nice 5-6 pound dolly with those pieces in the stomach. It is a very good fishing trick and I have successfully used it on several occasions. Mmmmmm, shore lunches are soooo gooood!
