Do you have the riser yet? I'm assumming you do... if not try Ole's Machine... there out of the US and manufacture risers for almost all sleds. I have ordered their products on 4 different occasions for friends, 2000 - 2004 sleds and they were great to deal with and the risers are top notch. Sorry, as far as the electrical goes you will have to research what Doo has on other models that may fit your sled. What are you riding?

All I did on my 01 summit was spliced in 4-6 inch's of wire extentions, one wire at a time. I sodered and heat shriked each connection then put them all into 1 loom. Take your time and tie up nice and watch for pinch points. I even got a little inventive. I had aftermarket bars, they had a upper and lower bar so I lowered my kill switch and light switch to the lower bar, as I tended to go over the bars alot and ripped to switches off alot. It sure cleaned up the upper main bar, alot less clutter.

Did an 8" on an 02 800, had to cut and extend the wires. You will probably have to do the same to get enough. Put a jack under the belly, lift the front of the sled and cycle the steering completely left and right, checking all wires and connections to make sure nothing is pinched or rubbing or pulling. I do not recommend the throttle cable extension, like the one that PowerMadd makes, I would get a new throttle cable from Darrin @ GravityWorx Racing. Great guy to deal with and top quality products, no big junction box. You can get one for $60 US, he usually ships next day. He is in Idaho. the website is

I put a 6.5" on my Firecat and luckly everything was fine. Throttle cable, braided brakeline and all electrical had enough slack so that nothing would bind. I could have gone another inch with out any issues. It seems that some of the newer sleds have more slack on all the cables etc. than the older machines... understandably ofcourse... because more and more riders are wanting to stand and want the extra leaverage...

If you are extending more than 3 or 4 inches (you have a 6" riser to replace the stock 2.5" ??? correct me if i'm wrong) you most likely have to extend some hardware if not all. Enjoy the experience. :d Then you can advise and help the next guy who has the same qusetion on this site :d

If you are only going 6" you won't have to lengthen your wiring, only the brake and throttle. There is enough slack in the harness to install a 6" riser. you will need to undo a couple tie straps but you can reattach the harness in other locations..... Happy Rising..

What's wrong with the PowerMadd product?

What's wrong with the PowerMadd product?

Its not that there is anything really wrong with it, its a cable extension that you clip on to your existing cable to extend it 10". So there is one more connection on your existing throttle cable, which already has one in it from the factory. IMO, too many connections and places for things to bind, etc. I had my throttle stick open last winter due to binding in the cable, makes good practice for finding the kill switch on your sled in a hurry (so I opted for the longer cable the next day :)). Gravity Worx makes cables that are only one connection in the middle and they are circle connectors where both cables come in. It is the smoothest cable I have ever used, built a few sleds and bikes, if you could feel how easy the pull is on my 44's, it is like pulling a single 32mm carb. Just like butter. The Powermadd extension is about $40, the Gravity Worx cable is one piece and costs $60, worth every penny of the extra $20 IMO. Like I said, nothing wrong with the PowerMadd product, just not what I would use/recommend. Just my opinion.

I use the power madd product, and had my throttle stick open once last winter, not possitive that this was why it stuck, but I'm going to take it apart and lubricated more often. We'll see if I do this a few more times this winter if it happen's again.

On my 01 Summit,I used the PowerMadd pivot adapter,an 8 inch riser and the newer style Rev flat bars. It fit on perfectly. I also used a set of stick-on hand warmers from Royal Distributors which makes changing the grips a snap. They are also much warmer than the stock ones. Topped it off with a set of PowerMadd bushguards and I'm one happy camper. My avatar still shows the old set-up.
