2018 Mountain Cat Overheating

Anyone else having overheating issues? Mine gets hot on the trail no matter what the conditions are like. Rode 12” of fresh with the scratchers down and it still gets hot. It’s like it doesn’t like going fast or something. Dealer looked at it and said to ride it till it blows. The new thermostat and early warning light activate at 150F so I’m told. I don’t really care about the issue right now because I know it can’t be too hot but spring riding could be a serious issue. Rode with two other mountain cats with the same issue. Anyone else?

Oh and it never overheats once I’m up top, it just wants to be rode hard and put away wet it seems. ECM reflash has been done and changed nothing. I’m guessing that track just doesn’t throw enough snow because it is so stiff.

Check your snow flap, if it is kicked back it won't recycle snow worth a **** and nothing will hit the exchanger.

Also roll your sled side to side to try to get any bubbles out of the system, then top the fluid up to the middle of the tank cold instead of on the low line

I believe the 2018 doesn't have a heat exchanger in the tunnel, so flap doesn't matter.
It's in the front over top of the drivers, the more snow you can get back to the top side of your track so it throws it into the exchanger the better.

I had a 15 T3 with the short exchanger like this, had to get creative on the trails some times.

I ride with 4 18 cats. No issues . Couple of them have 700 mike or more

With scratchers down you should not have this problem. Did you check your coolant level? I would elevate the front end a foot or so and take the coolant cap off and make sure there is no air in the system. I would also look for another dealer as its most likely their filling procedure that is the root cause. Did the other sleds in your group happen to come from the same dealer? Finally rider till she blows is not an acceptable answer. Something is not right.

This engine definetly runs hotter than the zuk. I'd try putting snow flap back on and test that. That thermostat. Is a major pain to pull as you have to remove the skid plate.

If it wasn't holding temp in deep snow I would agree with you.

I run no flap, scratchers on the trail, temp light came on once but was on the trail heading down and forgot to put scratchers down, flipped then down and temp light went away in less than 30 secs

I think with out a flap no snow is making back to your cooler! That is the reason for the flap!

Is this an example of the rampant dumbing down of the sledding community?
Lemme get this str8 first tho-U run no snoflap and you have run no flap on 2 completely different sleds b4 with no problems. Therefore, this completely different new sled shouldnt overheat either?
Then it doesnt overheat once up top on the deep snow.
Therefore, it must be a sticky thermostat?
Mmmmmkay.

There is a bulk head exchanger and a tunnel exchanger. The tunnel exchanger is under the seat and tank assembly. Its a small U cooler.
Your tunnel is a two piece tunnel, the rear cap portion is clean while the front tunnel bulk head portion has the exchanger.

Lol I know that. But the flap still play a important roll in low snow conditions for helping facilitate snow routing to the exchangers.

Have you seen many guy go flapless successfully with the CTEC2?
Seen lots with the zuk.........
