The rivers are still fine to cross, I was just there last weekend. Rode to ruby falls and the south Esk trail, both were fine. Only access to Grave flats right now is through pembina River road, the road from Cadomin is closed right now. So best way to get there is through Edson/Robb to avoid all the gravel from Cadomin to Pembina river road.

Cadomin to Grave flats is permanently closed. That bridge has been washed out since I started going there over a decade ago and I'm pretty certain there's no plans to replace it.

1st time at Ruby Falls.
Man that is beautiful. Well worth the trip.

We thought we were being smart. Rather than have a long day (coming from the surrounding areas of Edmonton)
We figured we'd drive out Friday night grab a room and leave from Edson Saturday morning.
With that idea. We thought maybe tow the big box. The 28ft enclosed trailer. Less chance of any one stealing stuff off the quads.
We headed out Saturday morning. Met one fella that drove out from Edmonton that morning and a friend of ours from Peers.
Away we went.
Took highway 47 to highway 40. Then left onto Pembina River Road.
Thats where things got interesting. The old 3500 6.0L earned her keep and then some. She was a sketcky drive.

Unloaded and off to the falls we went.
Road along the river trail.

Falls were beautiful. Well worth the drive. Hiked up to the top. Forgot how old and out of shape we are.
But really enjoyed it.

Wreck it Rexin, did strike again. My winch line snapped. Had maybe two wraps left on the drum. So, I'll be running a shorter line.

Cooking lunch on the fire a few other groups came in
Everyone all had the same questions. What road did you take to come in?
Sounds like most came from smallboy.
I mentioned we were going to take cardinal road to cadomin and home that way. As Pembina was sketchy.

One guys looks at me and says. No you're not, not with a trailer. Said there were some good sized drifts and a wash out.

So we knew we made it in by Pembina so lets go home that way.
My @$$hole was clentched so tight. It pulled a chuck out of my seat. Still waiting for it to unclench so I can chite.
The road that was snow. Was now snow, ice, slush, mud. Ruts.
A couple hills you could walk faster up then my truck was driving. I was just spinning. And the boat anchor of a trailer dragging and pushing me all over.
Coming down some hills the truck was getting pushed sideways. The trailer break controller seen a lot of use coming out.

Lol. The drive in and out down Pembina River Road was way more interesting and intense than any quad trail I've been on. Drove 1000kms to quad for 50. Lol.

Looking forward to coming back in the summer. I'd like to see the falls with the water flowing now.
And we won't be dragging the big box. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the pics Ryan! Never been there, always ended up going somewhere different instead when we stayed there. But that looks like a bucket list thing in the winter time!

It sure was a great sight to see. I'm really glad I went.
Planning to do it again in the summer, I'd like to see the water flowing as well

hello,

can someone please let me know where the staging area is for Ruby? Never been riding that far west but would love to try it. We just don't know where to stage the truck.

Try this again.
My connection timed out.
So I apologize if this is a duplicate.

What day are you going?
Theres a few of us riding on Saturday.
Im driving down Saturday morning.

For directions. South from Edson past Robb. Right on the forestry trunk road. (Highway 40)
Left on Pembina river road.
Its a long drive
Then a tight 160 degree turn onto cardinal river road (right turn)
Staging is 3 to 4 km on the left.

Google maps shows it real good too

Curious as to know if going the Robb highway 47 or highway 40 past Hinton then south would be much difference? Last time i was down 47 it was not that great and a chit load of truck traffic blowing past a guy, just curious as to what members think.

Take it with a grain of salt.
When we went there in March, spoke with some other guys that said cardinal river road by Cadomin is washed out and trickey to get around it. He told me there would be no way I'd do it with my 28ft inclosed we had towed down
As we planned to go out that way.

So without driving it. I cant say if it is washed out or how bad it is.

I'll be coming in off Pembina River Road.

Myself and some friends are thinking of going in there around Sept long. Was just curious as to which way would be better or worse as i have been into cadomin but never further. Wish i could join in on this 1 though but unable to get the time off this short of notice. Travel safe and let us know which way you went in and came out and how were the conditions.
